    g-

For what its worth, you may be interested in the "<a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=5&t=000852"; target="_blank">what is your favorite browser</a>" thread. Towards the beginning, I carefully outlined my reasons for using OmniWeb over Mozilla. iCab is ugly and very unstable for me; so, I didn't even bother mentioning it.

A "tabbed browsing" feature is planned for 5.0 which, unfortunately, isn't said to be released until early 2003. The Omni guys at MacNN have suggested that they are putting some serious thought into its implementation and although it should not be identical to Mozilla's it will probably be better.

That new version, however, will include a major rewrite of the display engine and some reworking of threads to make browsing much faster, espaecially on pages with large tables (where OmniWeb is at its worst now). Version 5 will also supposedly bring CSS and such up to par with the other major browsers. If you read the thread I linked to in my previous post, you'll see a few hints of what changes are planned for 5.0.

No browser except for IE makes up for Active X pages.

Is it me or do more and more sites REQUIRE IE?

thanks starfleetX....i am currently using Chimera 3.1 the most, as it seems the fastest....of course it is the most limited too....really like omniweb 4.1 except for the speed and no tabbed browsing...i now have 4 browsers in my dock and use them all...makes it more interesting, but probably not the best solution for most people....will see which is best with cable (if the guy ever comes today)...g

ps...am i the only one who doesn't mind the omniweb icon....not very lickable, but not nearly as bad as the awful "M" that mozilla places in my dock...g

I've noticed some severe stability problems with this browser recently. I've had it crash more on me in the past day than ß7 did in all the time I had it. I think its sites with popup windows that get it most often. digitalcity seems pretty bad (I just moved to Durham, so I've been checking it out). It's also crashed on other random pages. I'm sending in my crash reports, but it doesn't look too good right now

If you don't like this release, then you could just download an older version from <a href="http://www.omnigroup.com/ftp/pub/software/MacOSX/.sneakypeek/releases/archive/"; target="_blank">here.</a> That's what I did, and I also got the old icon back
