In addition to the widescreen, I wish they'd include WiFi on the new iPod and [maybe] an iSight. It would be cool to walk around campus while surfing the internet and maybe even have a video chat with friends.
How would you surf the net or control a chat? With the scroll wheel?
How would you surf the net or control a chat? With the scroll wheel?
You people want such unrealistic stuff sometimes.
uh.... I don't know about surfing the net, but specific functions would be possible, like RSS or video chat. All input into the iPod is done when you sync it with the computer. The only "on the go" functions it performs is the "on the go" playlist where you hold down the enter button to add a song to the playlist.
So, your iChat buddy list would get pre-loaded in, your RSS feed list as well.
So, select chat, Select your buddy (available ones are at the top), select video chat or audio chat.
RSS works basically the same way.
I think it's possible, but i doubt it will happend anytime soon, maybe the 7th Gen.
And how cool would it be to video chat with your friends in the car!?!?!?!?!
Mobile video conferencing was launched a year ago in the UK on 3G mobile phones. It was a complete flop largely due to the poor video quality. If Apple does launch such a product I would interested to see how they solve this issue.
All I want is a touch screen widescreen interface, bluetooth for syncing with my mac, wirelss to browse the internet on and read RSS feeds and connect to iTMS, an iSIght built in so I can video chat with my friends, Keynote built in so I can have portable presentations, 8 hours of battery life while playing video, A little holographic keyboard that projects from the iPOd so I can use it to take notes in class, wirelesss earphones included, a user replaceable battery, an upgradeable hard drive, built in bose speakers, video game capablities, radio built in, Satellite radio built in, the abiliity to record video input from the TV! That's all!
Oh yah, and I want it to be 1/4" thin.
That's so unrealistic. with the features you want, it would have to be at least 3/8" thin.
video in the car is stupid; and if you want to acheive the same thing with someone in a close range, GET A FRIGGEN CB RADIO! Our parents' generation had a lot of great tech too you know.
The head of a Taiwanese manufacturing company responsible for churning out iPods says Apple Computer is getting ready to unveil its next-generation digital music player.
At its annual meeting this week, Hon Hai (Foxconn) Chairman Terry Gou said Apple is about to unveil the next generation of its iPod, which will introduce a "none-touch" concept, according to a report in the China Post.
One way to keep those greasy fingers off the screen.

Yeah, but you still have to hold the iPod somehow... It will still get greasy, and people would STILL touch the screen. I don't think this is realistic for the iPod yet. But it might work on a fine lenticular 3D screen with promity detection. Could be used for 3D navigation in apps that best use that feature (such as 3D modeling, games, etc.)... This could also work with future broadband 3D videoconferencing and entertainment, I suppose.
Nice texture on the mock-up Apple will have to have something better than just [8GB Nano and hard disk/ screen size updates] by the end of the year though...!

i was thinking it could be a bad translation.
we were hearing rumors about a touch-screen iPod, so "none-touch" or "non-touch" sounds conflicting... hmmm...
Is it possible that it's an iPod that can be plugged into your TV and controlled with a remote control? A portable Tivo?
But if it's a touch-screen iPod, I hope it's got iCal capability.

Very good point.
Btw, i don't like these multi purpose devices.
I don't even like "Radio" on an iPod.

Non-Touch ....
Perhaps he meant this....
Apple Files Proximity Interface Patent
One way to keep those greasy fingers off the screen.

Wow. If true it would mean a trouser change for the msPod development team.
