    yes.

Indeed 'the science forum' is a very odd place.

If you thought I had 'issues' and was a bit 'venomous' at times - you should check out some of the posters over there. They make me look like Andy-Pandy.

I just looking round the forums, never been in one before, and recognised the same name. I got kicked off the NTL forum so here I am. I couldn't understand a lot of the geeks on the science one so it's not my scene.

    Welcome aboard

Thanks doc (if I may be so informal)

On the SF I did get interested in one thread - it looked like a load of b'locks so I did some research and the only one who's replies resembled reality was a guy called bilco. But most of what he was talking about was way over my head. Is he on this Forum?

No he is not in this forum. He is a retired scientist specialised in time domain radiospectrology. Most of the others posters in this forum are not scientist, but people interested in science. I doubt that many active scientists lurk around those kind of forum, but I could be wrong

PS : doc is OK for me ( while I became a mod here, I wanted to change my name from my powerdoc to doc, but my AI friends do not wished that I changed my name)

    (I am a scientist)

Edit: and bilco is a spectroscopist for those who want to use real terms.

I higly doubt he is for several reasons :

    - He did not claimed to be. He claim to be a spectroscopist

    - he is 70 so in 1969 he was 33 the age of Jesus Christ or Alexander the Great when they died, but not the age of a director of the nasa.

Did this guy (billco) say he was a retired director of nasa?

    I don't know and I don't really mind.

In the field of science I am nothing. I just love to strech my brain muscles from time to time

Is he a genuine scientist? I mean could he answer questions or did he just cut and paste like bits of einestien?

I think he could answer alot of questions, and I do believe he told me he was retired from Nasa in another thread. He probably is a great scientist, but him and especially zelos or whatever his name is are far more concerned with shouting their mouths off and trying to make everyone else look stupid than having a debate and explaining things to us lesser mortals.

Let's get the story straight. I was the one that said he was a NASA scientist from 1969. I was kidding. He did however reply that he was involved in the "re-design of a part of the Space Shuttle System." (Whatever that means.)

What makes me feel even worse is that we're still even talking about this old fart.

(That isn't a personal attack since he's not even a part of this forum.)

<---Official MarkUK fan. (How the hell am I a fan of a brit?)

It's not a personal attack indeed, but it's not very cool either.

That's said the science forum is not a very friendly place, but there is also a lot of garbage, like one poster who claimed that Einstein was wrong, but displayed only his lack of understanding in science.

Well this is doing wonders for my psycho studies, I just can't seem to make out whether bilco is a hero or a villain, if you carry on though you could be starting a legend like robin hood os something. he just looks some 70 year old on a pc, my grandad can't even turn the telly on!

You should ask him directly, by registering to the science forum. The science forum is not limited to astronomy and alike.

    !!ATTENTION!!

I have been requested by Billco via PM that I relay a message to this forum, which I guess the easiest way to do is quote it in full.

"I don't have a voice in the other forum you frequent so I hope you don't mind a PM from this one.

I have never worked directly for NASA, I was however, whilst working for IBM UK, seconded to a project which was involved with the manufacture of a test fixture used to build the External Tank. Prior to building each tank the jig dimensions are assessed to very tight tolerances. My part was to design a microprocessor controller used to extract, interpret and comminicate data (about the jig) to a mainframe system. This was one of the last improvements made after the Jan 1986 Challenger Disaster. I have learned since that this equipment is now also used to finely check the tolerances of the SRB's after they are recovered from the ocean. The impact velocity of around 90ft /sec and the elevated temperature, neccessitate considerable tolerance checking. If I gave the impression that I had actually worked for NASA it was not intended.

For the majority of my [pre-IBM] working life I was a Radio Physicist involved with Radio-telescopes, Radar, and Missile control systems.

Time Domain Radiospectrology is not a recognised science, it was infact a name coined by a colleague of mine to baffle visitors to our laboratory. We simply used to have a private wager on whether any visitor might actually challenge the phrase, non ever did. I should not have used it on the unsuspecting and apologise for mis-leading you.

    Kind Regards, Billco."

So, I have offered the hand of reconsiliation to him - and whatever has been said in the past, remains in the past, and we start afresh. Who knows, might be the start of an alliance between AI and TSF - we go there when we need our questions answered, and they come here for....um......the history of astrology in religion?

I am happy that you reconciliate with Billco. I have a lot of pleasure to discuss with him on TSF. Thanks MarcUK to have letting me discover this place.
