Gapless playback is likely an issue with the actual music files rather than the iPod on which they play. I bet they'll be fine.
Sadly, that's not the case. The only ipods that support gapless so far are the new models just released and the 5G ipod after you do a software update.
The original shuffle won't do it unless they do a firmware fix. Let's hope they do.
Can anyone explain why exactly the shuffle is incapable of playing gapless or was it an attempt to cripple the shuffle? I can't be certain, but I seem to recall at one stage that an original 1 Gb shuffle I had WAS successfully playing back gapless. Whether Apple later removed this feautre I don't know as I have subsequently lost the shuffle. My new 2nd Gen shuffle cannot play gaplesss, which I'm pretty peeved about because I assumed it would.
I just can't see what is so difficult about getting tracks that are themselves gapless (as can be verified by examining the audio signature in an audio editor) to play back gapless. If the nano can do it, why not the shuffle? I'm no expert however so perhaps someone here can offer some light on the situation.
