The record labels deserve nothing. They give no money to the artists, whose entire incomes are based on their concert tours except for the smart few who started their own labels or negotiated better deals (Master P comes to mind)

Well, it's like 3 cents per megabyte. So I am PAYING for it... sort of. It ends up costing around a dollar or two for a whole album.
Just because you pay them for it, doesn't mean they own it!
That site sells thousands of downloads of MY work every year, and not only does not pay me, but doesn't even answer my mails anymore.
