yeah I was actually looking at sales/marketshare graphs...slow work day.
Wow, look at those fruit iMac sales. That was fracking insane...!! And to think that was more US-based since Apple has gone much more global nowadays. That was a perfect definition of a "FAD", like the hula-hoop and umm.... some other fads......
This is strangely reminiscent of Thomas Edison's edict that genius only had 2% inspiration. The rest was hard work.
ROFL It's been pretty damn lots of hard work just to get the 3%. That remaining 97% requires making a big ass transmitter version of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arecibo_Observatory and beaming Steve Job's RealityDistortionField right into every one off the 6+billion brains on this planet. And beyond. 8)

It'll be just like in that episode of Futurama where the aliens come and threaten us with their monument destroying laser unless we dont give them the season finale of Single Female Lawyer. Except they'll be depanding Macs. Lots of Macs.
For the record, I kind of hope Apple would sell more then 1.6 million. Especially since Vista is estimated to be on 76 Million PCs by the end of 07 or 08

Any idea where I can get a better market breakdown (sales of servers, supermarket tills & pentium3s in the Ukraine don't say much about what I'm doing with my machine). Maybe by consumer numbers or, given the current consistency of price vs specification across manfacturers, by system cost banding?
Go, Apple! At 1% per year growth, we should be able to overtake the Windows hegemony by the middle of the century.
Well, when you're going from 3% worldwide marketshare to 4% in a year, that's actually somewhat impressive, as you're increasing your sales by 33% OVER whatever the growth is in the PC market as a whole. In one year. That's nothing to sneeze at, but...
...that said, yeah, even at this rate it'll take them a long time to make a truly serious dent. Apple's more marketshare-oriented than I've seen them in a long time, but it'd be VERY nice if they got even more aggressive. Now would be the time, as I'm sure Vista will be semi-broken until Service Pack 2 or thereabouts. \

I'm not trying to argue, but I was looking at some charts when this thread was posted.
