    2.5GB in an iMac. . .

We with above configuration are a small crowd. And yes, I would recommend getting more RAM, but beyond 2GB is usually kind of superfluous since a lot of apps can't access more than 2GB. 3GB would probably let you run simulations, or whatever, in the lower 2GB while the OS stays in the upper 1GB, providing the OS is smart enough to do this for you. Going beyond 3GB is silly for sure, since the big memory hog applications (Adobe) I don't think can utilize more than 2GB, and CS3 seems to be 32bit as well.

I may be wrong about Adobe, but as far as I know it's the case. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

yep. it's definitely roomier than 1gb. there might be times when i wished i had 4gb or more, but i can live without that much ram.

After 2 gb it seems to me as if all you need to do is cut down on the number of running applications and you'll be fine. It isn't like I'm trying to play a game, run Aperture, and Final Cut Express all at the same time.

I have 2GB in my iMac and my MacBook still has the stock 512MB. At some point I'll upgrade RAM on the MacBook but I haven't decided whether I'll go to 1 or 2GB.

    2GB in my november 2004 20" iMacG5

    2GB in my november 2006 15" MacBook Pro 2,33Ghz C2D

It's enough for the work I do.

Both on the iMac and the MacBook Pro the HD is the bottleneck.

I just got a MacBook from my dad for college. Do you think Mushkin is a good brand for mac memory. I know they use to do it in the past and their stuff is now at Mac Mall. I know they have a great reputation for performance ram? Im considering this.....

2GB BIAAAAAATCH!!!11!!!!! (just won Macbook on eBay.......................

Not conf1rm3d y3t until I check out that eveyrthing is as it should be upon pickup

Crossing fingers.... See how things go, will report somewhere around if things check out alright.

2GB. MAXXED OUT. Damn. 2GB is massive. Can't wrap my head around it now. Only way I'm thinking of it is pefect windows+mac osx for now - 1GB to each OS. Or, 1.25GB to OSX since 64MB of that goes to GMA950... Windoze XP2Pro on 750MB... Well the beauty of Parallels is that if I'm doing more intense WIndoze work I can slot it for 1GB or more and let Tiger slide back to 700MB or so.

Got (well going to get, fingers crossed still), Macbook at good price, so if I need to sell it off in a year's time, residual costing is about $100AUD per month that I've "rented" the MacBook for this year.

Well, we'll see. Thank you divine universe for your blessings and happy Macworld to all, and to all, a Happy Macworld / MacLIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!1!!!
