He mentioned that "Americans only like things where people score frequently and often." I was disputing his comment by mentioning that baseball is a low scoring sport yet considered a national pastime. The popularity of the three major US sports can be largely attributed to their domesticity. It has nothing to do with the scoring. Baseball, basketball, and American football were all started in the United States and its because of that they became popular.
The same reason why hockey is big in Canada.
And when I'm talking about these sports, I'm referring to the modern professional sports. No need for an explaination on how hurling became hockey, or how rugby is the great grandpappy of football.
Also, adjective, I hope you don't take offense this post. I guess I just had to prove my point...
