I was actually joking there -- a Derrida reference that suffered a horrible, oblique death.
Shutting up.
Derrida wouldn't say there is nothing outside the text. Cleanth Brooks and Robert Penn Warren might, but not Derrida. Derrida would say everything is text.

It was an actual quote; abused and misused a lot, though.
I played around with it for a while, and I felt like i was trying to use a combine to mow my yard. Right now, I can maintain an Excel list with some tagging information and combine that with Yojimbo to incrementally scan and store as PDF).
Really? Huh. I found it to be really straight-forward. I have several hundred entries in it at the moment, and like it a lot. Ah well.

Basically, I simply don't want to babysit a database. If I have to reinvent the card catalog, so be it.
Filled up my first 2" binder today and made headway on a second. I'm almost through the pile of documents that was sitting on top of the first of 4 tubs of other documents. Each document gets its own plastic sleeve, and each plastic sleeve gets its own label indicating what it is. All of this will be coordinated with an excel file, which I'll print out and put in the front of the notebooks so I can grab them off the shelf and flip if I need to.
I've also relegated a couple of documents to clipless binders (which I make spine labels for).

Dammit midwinter they're just documents! There's nothing outside of the text!
Which is why I don't want for a record I'll rely on to have errors in it.

(I didn't know that until a couple of days ago.)
