navigator pulls about 5-9% cpu on an 800Mhz PowerBook, at least for me. when in the forground, it will grab anywhere from 30-60% cpu, although IIRC in OSX that doesn't really matter like it did in OS 9, although i'm sure Brad will come along and correct me here in a min.
to me though, the rendering of web pages in a decent time is worth almost any price. i would love to see Chimera bundled with Macs in the future so i don't have to listen to people whining about web browsing being slow on Macs.
<strong>it's kinda like the feeling that I already have a goodlooking girlfriend and I just cheated on her with a model...Escher resistance if futile...the only problem I have had with the nightly is now it won't stick as my default browser again...oh well...that's what i get for cheating but oh what a one night stand.</strong><hr></blockquote>
LOL.
Mmmmmm. Cheating with a model. But I'm married, so cheating bears heavier consequences. So far, I've managed to stay off the nightlies (and the models). I also haven't visited AI in 4 days. Outside of AI's downtime, that's a personal record. If only that really made me a changed man... I'm sure I'll try a nightly again sooner or later and then have to check back into rehab.
I cannot get the Favicons to display in the sidebar. Each time I add the line user_pref("browser.chrome.favicons", true); to the preferences it gets removed when I start the application. Any ideas what is wrong?
I know favicons are not everyons cup of tea, but I like them so please lets not have a debate about there virtues.
There is a problem with text entry, and it is way more noticable on slower machiens (I can't see the bug on my DP1250 but it's awful on my Beige G4/560)
<strong>Is there anything bad about using a "nightly?"</strong><hr></blockquote>If you don't mind running untested software on your Mac, it's no big deal. Just know that you can only blame yourself if it eats your homework.
[quote]<strong>HAVE THEY FIXED THE TEXT ENTRY BUG YET?</strong><hr></blockquote>Well, the "text entry bug" is a pretty generalized way of clumping all the text entry problems together, right? If that's what you mean, then no the text entry bug has not been fixed. Entry fields still follow Mozilla's strange set of custom rules and behaviors. In recent builds, though, it has improved slightly. Specifically, the problem where using option-arrow to navigacte text no long grinds to a halt when it hits punctuation.
And get this: support for services has been rolled into today's build. Yikes. More details to follow...
haha, how exactly do you change the themes, i downloaded chimericon or whatever and i read the read-me and don't quite understand what i do and how i change the look, i like it, and i just have to get used to it but the look isn't exactly appealing currently.
Text on my iBook 500 with 384 megs of RAM in OS X 10.1.4 with Chimera enters so slowly I could outype it with ONE HAND. (nothing dirty implied here! You sicko!)

I'm off to try the newest nightly.
