Anna Nicole Smith died Thursday after collapsing at a hotel and being being rushed to the hospital, one of her lawyers said.

Smith collapsed in her room at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and was rushed to a hospital on Thursday. A Hollywood, Fla., fire department spokesman told MSNBC TV that the actress was unresponsive when the rescue unit arrived on the scene and had been intubated. Smith was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital shortly after 2 p.m. EST and attorney Ron Rail confirmed that she had died nearly an hour later.

On Tuesday, Smith and the diet products company TrimSpa Inc., for which she is a spokeswoman, were sued in a class-action lawsuit alleging their marketing of a weight loss pill is false or misleading.

Smith also was order by a judge to have baby daughter undergo paternity testing. The test is being sought by Smith's former boyfriend Larry Birkhead, who claims he is the father of Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern. She was born Sept. 7 in the Bahamas.

Less than a week after the birth of her daughter, Smith's 20-year-old son Daniel died in her hospital room while visiting Smith after the birth. An coroner's report ruled the death was caused by an overdose of anti-depressants and methadone.

Smith married Texas oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. He died the following year.

She then feuded with Marshall’s son, Pierce Marshall, over her entitlement to the tycoon’s estate before he died in June at the age of 67.

In the long-running dispute, Smith had won a $474 million judgment, which was later cut to about $89 million and eventually reduced to zero. In May, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Smith could continue to pursue the fortune in federal courts in California despite a Texas state court ruling that Marshall’s youngest son was the sole heir.

I was thinking the same thing over my late lunch at this fast-food Mexican place called Moe's.

We could use an Entertainment News Channel.

She's young so it's sad. I can't say that it particularly matters to me. I mean, the only thing I know about her is jacking off to pictures of her a few times as a teenager.

    Poor baby girl...

No mother, no father, no sibling. The true definition of an orphan.

The only thing that makes me sad about this is the fact that TV news will talk of nothing else for a week.

Shame about Anna Nicole, though. Damn. She seemed very screwed up, but what a life.

Cause she had huge... "tracts of land" and posed for playboy?

She's not the only one who died today. Hers is no more a tragedy than any other death. Being famous doesn't make her super-human, or worthy of any special mourning.

    It's official: Meh.

Granted, it is interesting that the news channels are obsessing over this.

No Kidding. There's a TV in the lobby of the building where I work that's always tuned to fox news. I walk by it in the morning, at lunch usually, and at the end of the day. The last three days it's been on the astronaut every time (without exception) I walked by until the end of the day today, when it was Anna Nicole.

I'm sure the people at the cable news outfits are thanking their gods and sacrificing goats at this point: straight from astronaut crazy lady murder plot triangle to the death of Anna Nicole Smith.

Now all we need is a pretty young white girl to go missing and its the trifecta.

It's very sad, but it might actually turn out for the best for the child. Assuming the child is adopted by someone else, the odds are pretty good that they'll have better parents than Anna Nicole Smith. There are millions of adoptive parents looking for a baby.

While it is sad that anyone dies, heres was not a model life and I really wonder what the autopsy will find.

I agree with audiopllution that this should not be a major story on CNN. THey have even made a special interactive on the topic. Guess this is the level the US is at right now.

I'm interested in how you can die from overdosing on antidepressants (her son).... and methadone.

Overdosing on psych meds just normally lands you in hospital in a mess for a few weeks, but I think the methadone or other hard drugs, those are the icing on the suicide-by-pills cake that deal the finishing blow.

    Strikingly honest. But understandable.

    Not surprised.

She was a mind control slave/victim who reached the end of her usability, murdered somehow, some kind of poison maybe, that made her suddenly collapse dead. Probably be ruled as something like an (her fault) overdose, but if so, it's a lie.

If it was an overdose, it'll probably be attributed (through the media) to her having been depressed and/or distraught lately about the death of her son, and also because of the legal battles she's involved in with her ex, etc. (even though neither appeared to publicly bother her as she was galavanting around the Bahamas immediately after her son's death, house shopping) so she resorted to popping pills and OD'd.

    Lies.

Purposeful murder of a used up MC slave.
