Google Maps is on the iPhone already, so I imagine that other 3rd-party apps will also be allowed. I also imagine that the bulk of them will be in the form of Java widgets and will be controlled via iTunes either for free or low cost purchase through the iTunes Store.

For example, I'm a frequent traveler so I'd like to have a Currency Converter, World Clock, Multi-Language Translator, Worldwide Hot-Spot Locator, Airline Flight Finder.

How would you use Delicious Library on the iPhone? All your media would be synced and stored in iTunes. I really don't follow how it would be useful and not redundant.

They may have forgotten that there is a 2 year contract associated with the iPhone purchase. If not for the contractual part, there certainly is a market for people who want a WiFi iPod with Safari browser.

I fully expect an 80 and 120GB HDD iPod Video with multi-touch-screen w/WiFi and browser for $300 and $450. I'm expecting those to come out sometime in the October.

Or much use to business users since it won't recognize any MSOffice documents (or PDF for that matter)...

sounds serious, they way you said it. but it isnt like that. why wouldnt a lite version of OSX be able to view a PDF? you can actually generate PDFs through any OSX application by going to the print dialog and choosing save as PDF.

and your business concerns need to be addressed but i keep hearing about internet applications for business and the reference to Google web applications.

Those claims are unfounded. Safari and Preview can both view PDFs. Mail works with any POP, IMAP or Exchange via IMAP accounts.

Just so you know, I have a friend with Cingular, and the phone he was using had a DISTINCT effect on his service. He'd gotten a crappy Razor, but eventually managed to get a new phone that didn't have the same HORRENDOUS FLAWS that caused him to constantly lose his signal and question any number of other reasons for his problems, including the carrier. Now, he's MORE than happy, considers his service unbeatable, and when no one is looking, I catch him "skipping".

Seriously though... this "study/survey" cracks me up. I don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet, but I keep imagining this conversation:

SURVEYOR: "Hello, sir. Have you heard of the Apple iPhone?"

    SURVEYEE: "No. No, I haven't. What's that?"

    1 Month Later...

SURVEYOR: "Hello, sir. Have you heard of the Apple iPhone?"

SURVEYEE: "Sure. You told me about it last month."

SURVEY COMPANY: "There you have it, awareness is GROWING about the Apple iPhone! Last month's survey had awareness at roughly 47% of prospective customers. This month, its at nearly 100%! Unbelievable!"

Wonderful! Except that for that very reason, they don't survey the same people.

Apple could have done this already. Which lends to the speculation that Apple is looking to transition the entire iPod line from HDD to SDD.
