    This is great to know... my macbook battery has been garbage in the last few weeks..

    I had purchased my Macbook Pro 13 inch recently (Aug 2009). Unfortunately i had drained out my battery and when i started it battery symbol showed and X symbol later it showed not charging. (the LEd always showed green). I installed coconut battery, it did not detect the battery and did exit showing error. Later i read on how to reset the SMC. This worked. The LED light turned amber and then battery symbol indicated properly. I hope apple releases a software update to rectify this issue.
