    to be honest, while were waiting for marketable results from the ITER experiment, I would just build a ship load of conventional safe Nuclear reactors to satisfy demand and hope we have no disasters. While we make steps to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, make everything electric powered, build smart buildings and cut waste.

    This is my view as well. ITER is expected to cost 10 billion Euros. If the US government pumped half the money it has spent on the war in Iraq into the project, it may well be done by now, and the net result of marketable fusion power would make the troublesome middle east a less relevant region.
