This time COULD (caps fro emphasis, not saying will) be different in that SJ has the time and opportunity to groom a successor. Last time he was kinda shown the door.

The guy is only 52 years old for goodness sake. Unless he experiences a recurrence of illness (cancer) I think he's got a good 10 years left in him.

Of course, he might "step down" from Apple...but move onto other things if he thinks he's done all he can at Apple. But that would be a little surprising to me.

Of course if he stepped down he'd remain on the Board of Directors.

Yes. I use many tools that have a foundation in Steve Jobs' ideas and actions. So I would say that he is a modern day toolbag. That's fine by me. Good for him.

As long as I don't have to reach into Gates' sack.

OMFG That Bing Gordon guy looks and sounds like he just woke up from an all night binge with coke, hookers, and pizza. Lots of pizza. And hookers.

...Can I make out with the witch chicks while playing as Harry Potter?

I thought something like that when I saw him too.

I also think John Carmack looks a bit funny like he's a fictional character, kind of like the Child Catcher from Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang but not quite.

Heh. He used "Boom!"... He is the chosen one. He will bring balance to the Forc... um I mean Apple...

Heh. Yeah Carmack was weird. Nice that he's around and doing 1337 stuff, but aesthetically I'd choose Source, UT2007, UT2004 even, NFS:MostWanted, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. engines over the Doom3/Quake4 ones. Just my preference. For a 6600GT 128mb VRAM nVidia - kind of level of gaming card.

Oh, just saw the (low res but not choppy) keynote of WWDC'07

Heh. Ask Slewis, and BTW nothing to do with you. ...The ol' "Steve Jobs Shit Sandwich" complaints going around the Intarweb.

In all seriousness though, I'm going to draw a line in a sand and say, Yes, Jobs is a toolbag, but like a previous poster eloquently put it, it's some great tools there for me to use in life, work, play, family, friends, etc. etc.

I'm also going to draw another line in a sand and say, Web2.0+Ajax for 3rd Party iPhone Apps is a *brilliant* idea. Flame on, flame on... But that's the stand I am going to take going into the rest of 2007.

I may not have much time or space to debate my position, just wanted to get some 2 cents out there first. Some of us have real jobs (now) .

Heh. "Real" job. I spent most of yesterday afternoon opening 3 new MacBook Pros [previous 2.16 models], groping them heavily and also installin 1gigger RAM into 2 of them. Mmmm....

I don't give a crap about you bunch of whiners and "what you expected at WWDC". All I know is that the products that he delivers are so much better than what anyone else is doing. Plus he's making a bunch of people who wisely bought Apple stock a lot richer. I hope he never leaves (he MIGHT think about it when Apple becomes bigger than MS!).

Anyone that dumps their Aapl stock after the intro is just plain stupid. This thing will generate more revenue than the iPod ever did. Also, it will bring even more people into the stores, you can't begin to estimate the halo effect from the phone. Please, name a stock that you think will do better in the next 2-3 years.
