The price is one of the factors keeping me away from the iPhone. There are a few factors that I need on the phone at that price. Being able to link a spread sheet to keep track of miles and gas, expense's, etc, is a big for me in my business. It would be nice to be able to bring up documents to send to a local printer to print too (file-in-black contracts, etc). Email is not as important, but there are times when I am waiting and the internet would be great to kill time with.
I think I am going to wait, save my pennies, for the 2nd generation once Apple has perfected a screen that does not have flaws, more space (60 gigs or more), better link to Apple products (iWork, iPhoto, etc), video capturing, and what ever else I am forgetting.
Though that add with the excel got me a little excited until I found out it was only to view.
I think I came to that same realization about how TV ads speak about the world when I was 14 years old.
Very clever, i was 14 once too, and no i have not just had a revelation or anything.
It helps when critising someones post to also read the post he is answering to, i was just answering someone else who claimed it was a figure of speech and i was pointing out it was not a figure of speech but just marketing BS.
I do happen to work in marketing for a software company so not as wet as you people would believe.
Am I the only one that finds the iPhone commericals to be completely lame and lack personality?
I think they wanted to get over the "what is it" hump, and also to try and give the "if only you could see it in real life you'd want to buy it" experience to the viewer.
I agree that the commercials themselves are not that compelling, but I can understand why they went there during phase one.
If they had some cool iPody ad, people would be like
If they had some comparison ad, people would be like
They also don't want to make potential customers
So the ad is neutral, and just shoves the iPhone in your face and shows you stuff. With tinkle tinkle music in the background.
People on this board are more tuned into the Mac universe, so maybe we overdose on the music before casual viewers. But I agree that the tinkle tinkle music has gotten
Maybe they think it's like the Jeopardy theme song where you hear it so much it becomes like a creepy little nursery rhyme you can't get it out of your head. But I agree it's time to add a little

64GB of flash memory is around a $1000. You would need to save quite a few more pennies for that much space.
