truthfind you're an idiot. That's cause a keyboard is just a keyboard (looks like all the other keyboards out there), no big deal. This is an iPod, a new revamped version and you never know what different type of mp3 players will come out. iPod is a bigger deal cause most of the world has one, and they don't care about some stupid keyboard.

Dude- lighten up! I have a valid point, but if you don't think it is please at least be civil about it. it's just a comment section for a product that we are all probably wrong about. I mean really, let's face it- it doesn't really matter that much in the whole scheme of things. It certainly doesn't warrant calling another poster an idiot over what is considered a concept picture of something and has supposedly been stolen from Apple.

I agree that it was uncivil.
I think you have a point, but in the case of the keyboard, the keyboard really wasn't the product, even if it can be bought separately. The iPod equivalent would be if photos of new earbuds were released, that doesn't show us what the main product looks like. We didn't see photos of the new iMac, but I bet that would have been visited with the same takedown notices. iPods and iMacs are much more significant products than their included accessories.
Here's the best I can come up with showing one of my mockups in a hand:
I'm not sure if the proportions are quite right but you get the idea. About 2.4 x 3 x .3. The nano is .26 thick and this thing doesn't need to be much thicker since it'd use flash, not a HDD. The loony Zoony uses a HDD. This iPod would be much thinner and lighter.
Bad move imo. I think they'll keep the form factor and push the 8gb into the 4gb's place, giving you your green colour option on an 8gb nano.
Hope you can still retur it by next wed.
Well, it supposed to arrive on Wednesday, September 5, according to FedEx.
We'll see if I made the right move or not. Personally, I will be fine with the one I ordered. Maybe it will turn out like you said, but then again, maybe these photos are accurate and I will be overjoyed that I got one of the last good looking Nanos.
Anyway you look at it though, I'm getting a new Nano and no matter what happens that isn't all that bad.

From that picture, you're probably much closer to the real thing than you think. It actually looks pretty decent, and if Apple offers a 32 GB flash version for US$299 I'm buying one no questions asked!

I still don't get this 5G-like design, I just looks foolish to me. The nano works because it's small, making the screen bigger, but not remotely keeping the thing as small would be a retarded move in my opinion. A move I highly doubt Apple is going to make. "A step backwards"? More like a jump backwards.
I still would like to see this design:
And again, for those concerned with not being able to work it in pocket, the accompanying earphones could have an built-in in-line remote. I believe in the touch-screen, and think it would be totally appropriate in this situation. The click-wheel was a fine creation, it had it's day, 'twas a good day, but it's coming to an end I think.
Cause, you know, Halo's soundtrack is what everybody listens to these days. And you can't beat the status value of a MP3 player with an XBox game color scheme. Women will fall at your feet. Or men, if that's your thing.
Obviously iPod is doomed folks, just give up right now to avoid further anguish. You're not fooling anybody with this thread.

What I'm showing, as I keep saying, is the 6G iPod which is a replacement for the 5.5G iPod, not the nano. Let the nano be the nano. The 6G iPod is also not the iPhone-like iPod. Different animal.
Think about it: the 6G iPod uses flash instead of a HD. It has the same 2.5" display and clickwheel but it uses a new OS and interface. It's the same width but an inch shorter. It's only .3" thick or less. It weighs a lot less. It can do all the 5.5G iPod could do and more. It fits in the palm of your hand. It'll be the low cost video iPod. The true video iPod will be what's been labeled the iPod touch.
I have the feeling the proportions you're showing here are correct - the simplest explanation for the design in the new images is that the designers simply chopped off as much superfluous (i.e. non-screen or scrollwheel) vertical space as possible on the 2g Nano.
Not that I'm enthused about it. For the first time in the evolution of mp3 players, I really don't WANT anything smaller than the existing model- the 2G nanos are a nice and "grippable" size right now, just big enough to slide into the palm of my hand for immediate access to the clickwheel when I'm running. You'll have to keep the new player awkwardly wedged between your thumb and fingers to have similar placement.
Furthermore, I prefer the look of many of the new competing players (like the Clix2 and the new Zen), where the screen takes up the vast majority of the front surface. This makes viewing photos and movies a much more pleasurable experience and is just more aesthetically pleasing - I really think the other new players I mentioned, as well as others like the new touchscreen Samsung, make the nano look last-gen.
If they must use the old iPod 5 screen, it means they're making it game and video compatible. But they should've tilted the screen in standing position with just 2-3 mm wider iPod nano form factor.. would kind of work. Perhaps a little cramped finger position for the rotation finger..
If it's got to still have the wheel and no touch-screen then this would be a good design...
well i've got a replacement 60gb 1.8" drive arriving for my dropped-on-hard-concrete-a-few-weeks-back 5.5g ipod, so if there's a decent capacity flash offering i might be tempted to go for it.
How many people do you know who watch movies on their iPod? In my case no-one. Everyone uses them strictly for music except one guy who plays the games. A bigger screen is u s e l e s s.
Dude...if you don't watch videos on your iPod then why do you even have it!
I have:
The Godfather
Saving Private Ryan
Schindler's List
A Beautiful Mind
Borat
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
...and so on!
I decide to buy the DVD you know the actual thing and then rip it for Apple TV and iPod.
It's legal until you burn the ripped movie to a DVD which is useless because I have APPLE TV!!!!
Think before you speak, you are like the people who don't really look for progress or something.
Dude...if you don't watch videos on your iPod then why do you even have it!
Oddly enough, most video-capable devices are used for audio for most of the time, like 95%. Some people want to have all or most of their music library with them. I don't see the point myself as the hard drives are too fragile.

You have that backwards, it's the DVD ripping that is illegal, at least in the US and certain other countries. The burning to another DVD is probably fine unless you redistribute the burned DVD.

This little iPod would fit in the palm of the hand. Just measure the dimensions in your hand: 2.4" W x 3" H x .3" thick.
That's not unrealistic. The newest Zen's dimensions are about the same, though a little thicker: 2.2 x 3.2 x .44

But it doesn't have a song about it sung by David Bowie like the new ipod does:
