So my question for all of you MBP owners is this: Did you notice a difference in the feel (particularly the stiffness; the amount of effort to press the keys), from the time it was brand new until now? Not the overall feel of the keyboard, but whether the feel changed after you'd been typing on it for a while.

I'm in the same boat as you, went from a G4 powerbook to a MacBookPro. I DEFINITELY feel like the keyboard is stiff. Feel like I have to PUNCH the keys to get them to respond. Since I had my old G4 for three years I can't remember if it was this stiff in the beginning.

I hate having to go back and put spaces in.

I'm considering swapping it but maybe it's a common issue? who knows... but I'm a writer so it's definitely a big fat annoying thing for me...

Wow, this speaks exactly to my question, thanks. And if you are a writer, then you probably use your keyboard a lot, every day, just as I do. And it sounds like you're just as picky as I am.

How would you go about swapping it? Did you keep your G4 keyboard around? I'm not sure they'd be an exact match, even if they seem the same on the outside. And I don't know that it's easy to buy PowerBook or MacBook Pro keyboards by themselves (?).

Funny thing is, this makes me feel like things might have been okay, because it sounds like the keyboard may actually "loosen up" after a while. Why? Because the MacBook Pros in the Apple Store all seemed pretty good, with a soft touch. So unless there are a few rogue stiff keyboards floating around.... (seems unlikely)

How long have you had your new machine? Will be very interested to see if yours becomes better over time....
