Sorry Mac, No Halo 3 for you!

And while you guys finish making "home movies" with your iMovie, me and other gamers around the world on PC platform (Funny eh? there are more PC gamers than mac users ROFL) will do some nice multi-player games! Oh wait....there is a chess game in Mac OSX !

If you think people specifically buy a Mac to play games on, you're nuts. Horses for courses, as another poster said, why splash out on a specced out PC when you could buy a PS3 for a fraction of the price, or some other games console. Says a lot about your life - get a life.

Right now? Hell no. But you have to start somewhere and I'm all for Apple taking the important first steps. We can dream eh? We wouldn't be the only ones. There are many PC gamers that want to go mac. I chuckled recently while reading the editorial section of one of the PC gaming magazines where the editor was saying how the staff went Macs for productivity and were wishing they could game on them as well. Everybody would prefer having just one computer.

Also the guy who runs one of the Half Life fansites was posting how he was trying to tweak the game to run on his macbook pro. He failed to make it look as good but yes, there are people from all sides that want this to happen and it would definitely increase sales if it did. He was teased about the futile experiment by many but he also received a lot of comments from Windows users who were anxiously waiting to see the results so they could switch.

Episode 2 isn't out yet is it? Counter Strike and Day of Defeat are mods...although cool, they don't count. Valve only has one trick up its sleeve. Half Life and Half Life mods. It's very unoriginal.

Yeah I bought Halo 3 and I have fun playing it, but to compare it to Half Life 2 would be absurd. I am sorry but aliens that bleed blue blood and sound like little children make the series way too kiddish compared to Half Life. Bungie also really dropped the ball in the graphics department with Halo3. Extremely underwhelming. It's one thing to argue that you need to keep graphics down when taking the scale of outdoor battle scenes into account but there is absolutely no excuse for the piss poor graphics during the cutscenes. They also have no platform excuse because Bioshock 3 and Gears Of War are both games that play on the same platform that are also older. They look much better than Halo3 and I am willing to bet Bungie had a lot more money at their disposal for development. They have no excuse for not wowing us with the graphics. What sold this game was hype. What sells Valve games is quality and content.

Not that comparing Valve to Bungie matters in this case. That's not really what my original post is about. We all have our favorite developers and that's great. In the end I'm all about having access to more games rather than choosing one over another. I enjoy have choices. what I am saying is that I doubt Bungie would waste their time with Apple either. What would be their incentive? MAYBE it's something in Leopard?

I read a post from a BLIZZARD tech in the WoW forums that there is something very exciting coming up in Leopard that the developers are raving about in BLIZZARD but cannot discuss yet until it comes out. I wish I could find the post to cut and paste it but it appears to be all about graphics capabilities. I am excited about this possibility. Perhaps it will be what brings us more games to our macs so we don't have to purchase PC systems just to game. Thank goodness we can still play WoW even though sometimes it can be a bit too slowpaced for my tastes.

    Cheers.

I guess Gabe didn't get the memo. I wonder what this amazing thing is.

I mean come on. Do you think a PC user will pay for a mac machine so he can make home movies? for the sake saying bye to all the softwares that are windows compatible right?

ofcourse you call gaming waste of time. It's something that Apple can never get right so somehow you guys have to defend it!

While you guys are busing being "productive" and making home movies, Vista just sold more than Mac OSX ever did. Guess what? I got news for ya : Windows still rules the market! Get with the program!

By the way, how many software DVD players are available for mac except the one that comes with MacOSX?I can count many for windows tho!

What is it? nobody even bothers to develop a good DVD player for mac? man that must be sad!

i mean honestly this argument is getting more and more absurd.

Vista in many peoples mind is a failure. It is however shipped on almost every new computer so that is like 90% of the sales. It is the worst written os ever and just using it makes me crazy. On the surface it looks ok, but under the ui, it is horrible.

Being "productive" can actually make you money as well as increasing your skill. Gaming is a waste of time, but ever so fun, and the most worth while part of it is modding.

Who cares who rules the market. The majority of people, like yourself, are just stupid and uneducated in this subject. They fear and act violently against the unknow, a sign of a tribal culture.

Macs are used by many professionals in many diffent fields. video, audio, image and science all use macs for a large part of the market. (science also uses linux alot too)

Dvd player, there are others but who cares how many there are? That just means that the default one is really good.

Please come back when you can actually argue somthing.

So let me get this straight, you sign up on a Apple-centric website basically to bash Macs and Apple? Wow, that is awesome!!! You, you are truly awesome. What a great idea! I would never have thought that would be a cool thing, not even in a thousand years. But you, you thought of it and I applaud you!! Well played sir. WELL PLAYED! I'm gonna call you Awesome McAwsersome, because what you've done here is truly inspiring.

Keep up those witty and awesome remarks Mr. Awesome McAwsersome. You tell us Mac people how dumb we are. Damn you're awesome!!!

Original or not they work. Mods are fun and play as different games. I didn't even bother to list all the 3rd party mods but now that you bring that up it should be mentioned. All the 3rd party mods are a blast to play as well and Valve has always encouraged people to do 3rd party mods. And you can get them all on Steam with daily updates to code when needed. Sort of what Xbox360 is doing now with XBox Live. They copied Steam and that idea works beautifully. You cannot deny that Valve has done A LOT to push the envelope in PC gaming technology in many ways.

Ok first, Its hard to take you serious because of your grammar and sentence compilation. Second you do know that Macs can run Windows; so, strictly speaking software, there is no point in even buying a Widows machine.

Oh, and I can't wait to go tell all my gaming friends this, they're probably going to freak and commit suicide or something...

I do think it would be cool to have something like Gears of War, Or Halo, something like that on the Wii; I can't think of any good shooter games on it.

If the gaming market is as limited as you like to make it look like (Guild War, Battlefield, CS and ....) then why hardware makers bother to spend money marketing their products. Or maybe think there more people editing "home movies" rather than playing games?

and all those tournaments for PC gaming..is there even a Mac one?

Guys, Mac sucks big time when it comes to game! unless u live in your own fantasy world where Mac gets games (if any indeed ROFL)

First of all, I never said that macs were better than PC's when it comes to gaming. I said that that there are more Mac users than PC gamers, which you said the opposite earlier.

Also, I said that playing PC games is pointless because console games are WAY BETTER than pc games. nuff said. You're hopeless

That's not the point. The point is when Bungie sold out to MS, ticked off Mac users said at the time: "no way MS will let you keep control." Those Mac users appear to have been correct.

Nobody cares if your gaming PC can beat a Mac or not. Apple's market is not the hard core gamer - that's why they don't include the best video cards in their consumer machines - that's why there isn't a mini-tower. Until a significant portion of Mac users demand Apple put better video cards into their machines, it's not going to happen.

Not that I don't think it'll never happen - in fact, I think Cider is helping bring more games to the Mac and thus, will bring more gamers. But it's not there yet.

    I second that.

I used to play video games at the arcade, then I used to play what games were on my Mac Performa 6200CD, and then I used to play games on my NES (nintendo entertainment system for those who are not as ancient as I) and then I grew up.

At this point it's not even the casual gamer market which is considerably larger.

In reference to: Wakashizuma. You know, I don't drag-race my Ferrari. I don't "hop it up." I don't "play games" with it. I just enjoy it for being amazing to drive and a work of art. Just like my MacBook Pro (except it's amazing to work on, rather than drive). You can drive your Mustang or Yugo, or whatever... I'll keep my Ferrari, and my MBP.

You just contradicted yourself. Based on the statement above, Do you think that your average Joe would spend on a PC when a console is a way better gaming system?

Just to give you a heads up. Have you ever heard of the Fashion industry...no? How about the film industry? Mac computers are the industry standard because they are efficient, and powerful when it comes to pro apps (unlike your kiddie games). This applies to all pro industries such as the music, and creative designer, etc.

A very unusual crowd came out for this story.

Let me get this right, buy an expensive computer AND an expensive console is a better solution than an a properly spec'd expensive computer that can do both. The dual system setup had better be much better because it's a lot more expensive overall.

I don't know what it means, exactly, but certainly it must suggest some change in Mac mindshare when AI starts getting a generous helping of garden variety basement dwelling trolls.

Didn't used to happen much at all, now we seem to get more than a few. The iPhone forum is positively awash.

Maybe AI got linked at mymomsaysshecan'taffordtobuymeamac.com?
