haha i like the clean look. i hate having icons all over my desktop. i searched for days for the perfect background, and that was it for now. Even when i had my old computer i used a dock and hid all the desktop icons ( which was only recycling bin )

Why do I have the feeling that you live in a house/flat with a spotless, pine wood floor and minimalistic furniture? Without a lot of visual textures, I go crazy.

no dock? i couldn't do that. It'd be a pain to go into the applications folder all the time to open a program.

Besides who uses the dock to launch 'all' their applications? That's a Quicksilver thing.

I only keep Safari, Mail, iTunes, iChat and Preferences in my dock now, and url's to web-pages I'm working on.

Unless of course you are centered on Cupertino in that shot of the globe. In that case, I might understand.

The only reason I used that image at the time was because it has a dark space on the right for my desktop icons, and I likely continue to use that reason. All I see is a globe, not America, there's far more sea there anyway Desktops normally only last a week for me. Sometimes only an hour.

He he he, yeah I'm just giving you a hard time. I actually really like the picture a lot, and for many of the same reasons. Could you provide a link to the full size file? Thanks

I get bored easily. So I have a continually expanding collection of now 500 desktop pix that roll around at random every minute.

This is what mine looked like a couple minutes ago:

    Finally, some freakin' icons!

Mine is here (154K). I am super-interesting: I think I've had the same desktop for the last year and none months -- basically the life of the computer. But I like it better than any other desktop I've seen.

It's one of the new Desktops included with Leopard, I can't seem to find the link. I think it was on digg or something.

NOTE: Sorry for large image, my brain fried and I didn't click the "thumbnail" option on imageshack!

    Clutter - yucky!

Now, I don't own a Mac. I use my Dad's, the family computer. There is only one account, which is his. For some reason, he likes to use ugly desktop images and have 75% of the desktop filled with icons. Now, if I customized it, he'd kill me! So, he's away at a conference or something, so I decided, to my abilities, make Jaguar look how it should. (Yes, Jaguar... )

Well, this is what it had looked like.

This is what I made it. (I reverted it of course, back to it's ugly clutter.

    Have pity on me, adults.

It also came with the iMac G5 I bought in late December 05. I'm not making this up.

Why have a desktop at all if you're not going to use it? By the way, nice Enterprise A graphic. Your dad is a good man.

This would be one of those things where I get an old mac for free (or cheap) and just stick it in the corner, running the aquarium program. However, I've just planned on building a real iMacQuarium at some point, sooner or later. I used to have a tropical, freshwater tank when I was young -- fish require a surprisingly large amount of work.
