I can attest to the bad hard drives in the MacBook Pro systems. I am on my third one and my MacBook Pro just celebrated its first birthday in October.

My Powerbook is only on its second hard drive and I have had it for over four years now and I treat it a whole lot worse than my MacBook Pro.

...aaand number three: Seems that there's another data loss issue in Leopard, this time related to CoreData. As documented on cocoabuilder.com http://www.cocoabuilder.com/archive/...07/11/2/192065 and reported by (german) Mac news site macnews.de http://macnews.de/news/104175.html

I never move files from one place to another. As a matter of fact I think it should be removed from the operating system. I spend the extra 3 seconds and copy the files and manually delete the original files when the copying is done.

Me too, looks like that makes us pessimistic, but this time we were right in doing it.
