The only way I can get Safari 3 to load a new site is to click on a link on a page, in the Bookmarks bar or in the Bookmarks menu. Safari 3 does nothing when I type in an address and click return.

You might want to reinstall. I can't reproduce your problem. Works fine fro me so far.

Did I mention that it's fast?

This update broke Safari for me. I will try reinstall and post the results. Right now, Safari crashes every time I close a Safari window and randomly as well. I did try removing all plug-ins, but no go.

edit: I figured out the problem. It was speed download 3.2. Apparently it isn't enough if you disable browser integration from within speed download. I had to run the uninstall script for the application. Bye Bye SD3...

I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place - first time user.

I downloaded the 10.4.11 update today and when I went to restart my hard drive never came up.

So I thought to re-install 10.4 as I bought it. When I tried the installer couldn't find the hard drive.

Now I have a funny square with a picture of the earth in it.

    Any thoughts?

Since you have the install disk up and running, look for the Disk Utility on your install disk and see if the Disk Utility can tell you what is wrong with your hard drive.

OK, I believe my wife updated our home iMac to 10.4.11, all we get now is the gray "you must restart" screen. I have tried to boot from CD, boot in target mode, nothing will come up other than the error. Any suggestions?

Ok, I just installed this update and now I can't get Safari to open at all. Every time I open Safari it immediately crashes, it won't even open a window at all. Previous to this it would not play any imbedded video (ie youtube). Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Trying to Print causes Safari 3 to crash. Safari 3 = suck. I wish I could roll back updates like Windows can. Can you undo Leopard updates?

UPDATE: well it seems that the update corrupted the firmware, and the computer would not take any input from the keyboard (tried multiple working keyboards) well we finally just replaced the logic board under warranty and that fixed it, but man this one had us stumped!

Are you plist files corrupted/damaged inside of ~/Library/Preferences/

    com.apple.Safari.plist

    Remove it and restart Safari.app.

Your Safari bookmarks and other plist preferences are under ~/Library/Safari so they aren't touched.

Yeah I actually did try that shortly after I posted but it didn't work. I think that may have fixed my problem with the videos not loading if i had done it before the update, but now safari still won't open at all. This is really annoying, is there anyway to uninstall and reinstall safari or anything.

Safari is now integrated into the ComboUpdate Packages.

I'd first build a list of locations where Safari is referenced.

    Path references, plist filenames, etc.

    Then post it.

I'd request someone else to post the same and see if there is anything specific you are missing or have corrupted upon updating.

Other than this one issue the update has been fine so far.

    Hi
