I'm sure that someone else has noticed this, but I've noticed this trend in codenames for MacOS X development builds:

X.0 - Cheetah

X.1 - Puma

X.2 - Jaguar

So are there more kinds of big cats in Apple's codename future?

Bobcats, lynxes, ocelots, lions, tigers, leopards, panthers, ...

It's been a while and I might get embarrassed but isn't a chettah the fastest land animal or at least the fastest 0-60 wise or at least faster than a jaguar and puma?

Yes, KidRed, the cheeta is a very fast little pussy cat. It's an ironic choice for Apple's dev team...

They should have started with Siamese with version 10.0 to leave some headroom for improvement .

Seriously though, my dad's two Siamese cats are the most lethargic turds ever. You just about have to poke them with sticks to get them to move.

But OS X is starting to feel cheetah-y.

I have cats with siamese blood, not sure what else they are but they are more than energetic.

and I use to have 2 pure siamese cats and one of them (the male) was definitely off the walls

Cheetahs only run fast for short distances. Which cat runs fastest for sustained periods of time?

LOL!! It's funny because it's true!! Next time around, maybe they could name the 10.3 "Markie", my friend's orange tabby.

It's big, fat, slow and does nothing all day but sit there and look good, just like OS X!

It wasn't always big cats, though: public beta was Kodiak, and before that there were Gonzo and Beaker...

Wow, those look impressive, expensive, and kinda scary. I'd be too creeped out to walk down my hallway at night if I had one of those. I think I'll stick with my orange tabby (Mr. Mo) and his new little buddy Snippy (cream/cofffee-colored tabby). Lot less expensive too.

Is that a Maine Coon? He looks a little lighter in coloration than others that I've seen. I love that breed though!!

Yes he's a Maine Coon and six months old in that picture. A blue blotchedtabby - though he's got a little beige in him too.

<a href="http://homepage.mac.com/lunddal/.Pictures/003_3.JPG"; target="_blank">Here's</a> a more Mac related picture of him when he was younger

    Umm... my fault. Sorry.

Given Apple's track record, we'll know we've hit paydirt when Apple calls their next point release "Sloth".

They're going into the rodent builds soon I think. First is "Opossum," then "Badger," then there is the fabled "Groundhog" build, though I think that's just rumor.
