I've always dreamed of a tablet until the truth finally dawned on me. I was sitting on my couch with my MacBook chilling in my lap when I realized that the screen on my MacBook was exactly where it was supposed to be: in front of me. I mean if this thing was a tablet, the screen would be laying horizontal across my legs. Either that or I'd have to hold it up. And how in the world would you use the webcam. It would be looking right of your nose? You would need it to have some sort of stand that kept it vertical. And while you are at it, you might as affix a keyboard to that stand and call it a laptop.
The idea of a tablet is awesome. The portability, the touch screen. All amazing. I just want my screen pointing in the direction of my head. It seems like the tablet has a problem there. Or I am just missing something way too obvious here.

Yes. I believe you and many others are missing something. So to are MS and the rest of the UMPC industry. I think (or at least hope) that Apple has solved this problem and have come up with a unique approach to the UMPC or MID type device.

No, that's pretty much why Apple's first tablet fits in one hand.
It's not an insurmountable problem but it imposes pretty serious constraints on the design, particularly the weight of the device and the fidelity of the display at shallow angles. If sales of Windows Tablet PCs are any indication nobody's successfully worked within those constraints yet.

Well the goals of the iphone project were at first insurmountable too. But with hard work and the stubborness of Jobs.....you get a product that is changing the ENTIRE cell phone industry.
