Apple stores bound for casino resorts in Nevada, Connecticut

High rollers will soon find themselves with a host of Apple stores and resellers in Las Vegas and elsewhere to choose from when spending their winnings, say reports from observers.

ifo Apple Store notes that a barrier has surfaced in front of the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace, promising an official Apple store in summer 2008 for the major casino and hotel. The retail space is set in the West end of the Forum and will count both an aquarium and an Express clothing store as its neighbors.

The store will mark the third official Apple location in Las Vegas but will be the first in the gambling city to be located in one of the may resorts along the famed Las Vegas Strip. Both the previous Fashion Show and Town Square outlets have been located in traditional shopping malls.

The Mac maker's store would also be just its second to be situated on the grounds of a casino anywhere in the US. Despite Las Vegas' reputation, Apple has already experimented with such plans through its existing Atlantic City store, which is also attached to a Caesar's Palace casino.

Another Apple store may also appear in a casino outside of these two locations, according to some claims. An MGM Grand resort in Foxwoods, Connecticut has claimed that it will offer an Apple store in the location in approximately three months' time.

The authenticity of this claim is disputed, however. While MGM has since pulled its page for the future outlet and has said a third-party reseller would take the space, the site used official Apple graphics and language to describe the future location, including the mention of a Genius Bar for service.

Apple has not commented on the authenticity of the Foxwoods location.

I wonder will they have any kind of special return policy, you know, like if you suddenly decide your mac book isn't really you after all and maybe you'd like to get the cash back instead?

Or if maybe instead of a full refund you could leave it with the Apple Store and get just a partial refund or something, and you could return with the rest within a specified period if you decided to go ahead with the sale?

They could do that with secondhand stuff too.

Caesar's Palace in Vegas would be a good fit, I think, given the kind of stores that are there.

Makes sense. People make high-ned impulse buys when they start to win. I recall a story a few years back when a Ferrari deealership(?) was opened n Vegas.

the store is currently under construction. also, the apple job search page list 3 locations for retail, Fashion Show, Town Square, and Forum Shops. i had figured that the Forums was the first logical location before they opened the Fashion Show location. the Forums is one of the highest grossing shopping mall in the world per square foot.

stores within the Forums usually stay open 365 days a year till 10 or 11pm every night.

one thing to note is that all 3 store are (or will be) located on Las Vegas Blvd. with only about a 5 mile route connecting all 3. Town Square located on the south strip, Caesars located mid strip and the Fashion Show located just one more street north from there. the Las Vegas metro area population is approaching 2,000,000 and now has 3 Apple stores all within close proximity, 2 being within spitting distance of each other.

on a side note, conceptual drawings for a mall expansion in Henderson NV showed an Apple location there. however, the expansion appears to be on hold if not canceled.

Forget speculation, we need some damn stores, and quickly. Europe has over double the population of the States and Apple as always proves it doesn't care "enough".

Well I live in Las Vegas and 2 Apple Stores are enough and a third one seems like a waste of money but then again high rollers might not know what to buy with their money and then they might see the Apple store and be like "I should buy and Apple product!"

Well i've checked the apple job search too about a year ago and saw "Forum Shops" and thought that another store is enough

Forums is a very high grossing shopping mall. one of the highest in the world per square foot of retail space. as a result it is very expensive and can be a long wait to get in.

Vegas is a very different type of town. yes we have less than 2M people that live in the area and 3 Apple retail stores on the same road within 5 miles of each other seems a bit over the top. but when you looks at it, the people that visit those 3 stores are not necessarily from the area. you have new people all the time. the population of the strip alone can swing 100,000 over night. then when you look at who these people are and where they come from, chances are they dont have an Apple store within a reasonable distance from their home. especially if they are from Asia. i kid you not, they are dropped off my the bus loads (literally) every few minutes at the Forums. also, its the best exposure you are going to get for those that are not close to an Apple store at home. who cares if they don't buy there. what matters is they had a chance to touch the product and are now more likely to buy the product later online or whatever. where better than one of the most world renowned shopping malls.

just look at all the other shopping. why on earth do we need 4 Coach stores all within walking distance of each other let alone 2 in the same mall (Forums).

Fashion Show was over crowded. even on a wednesday afternoon when the mall was dead, the Apple store was over flowing with up to 1day advanced notice needed at the genius bar. Town Square helped a lot with the genius bar issue however being outdoors, Town Square as a whole needs the warmer spring and summer weather to really take off, it really is a great shopping center. however, the amount of people that will go through the new Forums store will be outrageous.

it should also be noted that other stores along where the new Apple location will be are all 2-story units so expect Apple to take advantage of the square footage of 2 levels for showing off the goodies.

If there is a store going into the MGM at Foxwood it would have to be an official Apple Store. With the investment required for new tenants and the regular rent there is no way a reseller would have enough mark up to afford it. Also, a third party company would welcome the free advertising that the MGM site would be giving them. Only Apple itself would care about waiting to make an announcement just before opening. An example would be the store going into the Royal Hawaiian Shopping center in Waikiki. The center is advertising other not-yet-open places such as Bebe and LeSportsac. But despite being announced in the newspapers a year ago and being formerly listed on the mall directories, the mention of an Apple store has been removed.

If you are interested in the progress of the new Waikiki location, check out the construction photos here:
