Apple screws recent buyers AGAIN!
Once again Apple suddenly makes a substantial upgrade leaving recent buyers feeling betrayed.
Happened with iMacs just before Macworld 2007, happened with iPhone and now Macbook.
Some of us cautiously waited until after Macworld and saw the Jobs annual dog and pony show introducing the "Featherweight" and assumed that was the big deal for this session. WRONG!
So less than a month later we have outdated Macbooks. Thanks Mr. Jobs for your innovative genius; but, your sense of integrity would not have worn well in an earlier time.

Apple does not release all of its updates (far less than half actually) at keynotes. Most updates are via a simple website update and press release, with a few special events here and there.
Apple's pattern for the last several years has been to announce new products or significant (not merely minor spec bumps) upgrades at MWSF, and then update a bunch of other stuff in the February / March timeframe.
Technology moves forward, and once the chips actually became available, Apple was ready to go.
The last generation of macbook is not outdated, it's just not the newest thing anymore. Have you not enjoyed your machine in the time you had it before the update?
Frankly, I think to be mad about computers getting better and faster and to feel "cheated" is silly, and reflects immaturity and pettiness.

1) Your Macbook is not outdated. It wasn't a huge upgrade anyway.
2) Steve Jobs didn't do anything wrong here. If you were living back in the '20s, you'd say Henry Ford didn't have integrity when he released a new Model A Ford, and you'd just bought the previous version. That's just the way it goes. Any manufacturer has to keep the new model under wraps for as long as possible, to try to keep an edge on the competition. You buy the available model, or you take a chance on when the next model is coming out. Sometimes you luck out, sometimes you miss out.
You can use Macrumors Buyers' Guide, but remember it's just a guide.

Angry 1st posts are just people crying out for a little luv.
Yeah ..damn you Apple!!!
Now enjoy that Macbook chief. I wish I had one even if it was a slight generation behind.
Seriously, how is releasing an update considered screwing buyers?

Tell your car dealer they screwed you when they released the 2009 models a month later than you could wait.

I felt the same way back when I bought a photo iPod right before the video iPod's were announced

I can not believe some of these people that come in here with this bull crap. If Apple would have released a MacBook, or MacBook Pro at MacWorld, and just released another one today I would have agreed, but this is ridiculous.

Is that all. You won't win in with tech. It is always going to happen within six months of buying a product, learn to accept that. My only piece of advice is when you are buying buy the most powerful system you can afford. Which is why I bought the 2.8GHz iMac.
I bought a new black MacBook 3 weeks before the newer MacBooks were released. Am I upset? No. The extra 200 MHz is probably not going to make a difference for my needs (Word, Safari, Mail, Stata, Photoshop).
would you rather have them not update their products?
I think Apple should announce all updates a month before they happen, so they can be sure not to sell any of that model for a month.
Either that, or always give people who bought an earlier model a free upgrade , so they can avoid being profitable.

Mmk so then the people who buy before the 1month upgrade info complain that they get screwed. Also what would you like Apple to do with their current stock of what you would call "obsolete" computers? Don't buy something unless you want to. No one forces you to buy anything.
[/end lol now enjoy your macbook
If you do that you can
A. Get a free $150 store rebate card or
B. send your product back and pay a fee and you can upgrade
so they really do care.
Btw, I went Saturday and got the new 2.4 MB. It is very nice and I am glad I don't have one like yours...
