10.1.5 on the way...

I just came back from the Newport Beach Apple store because I wanted to check out the new iBooks that had arrived yesterday.

When you choose the "about this computer" in the finder, it shows the rev as 10.1.5.

Of course, after seeing 10.2 in action, does anybody really care?

Really? A lot of computers at the Apple Store here are still running 10.1.3.

10.1.5 was loaded only on the new iBooks that were just released by Apple a few days ago.

Hopefully it will be like it is in Jag...we need something to chew on for a while.

Is there an ETA on public release (via Software Update, etc.)?

Railhead Design are saying that the relase of 10.1.5 to the general public is possibly being held up by Microsoft who'd like to get the new version of IE done to include with it.

Fine by me. Anything to make it a little more stable for when Chimera gives me problems.

Don't have time to scrounge for them, but has anyone else on other forums heard anything/read any posts about features/fixes included?

Just curious as I should be....

RAILhead is most likely wrong about IE. If you read Kevin Browne's recent interview from the Mactopia site, it clearly makes it sound like a release later this year - think Jaguar later, not 10.1.5.

Unless there will be two updates -- a minor one now and a major one later -- I doubt very much that IE has anything to do with the release of 10.1.5. Office v.X SR1 on the other hand, might have a heck of a lot to do with it. That's supposed to be released any day now (and it will require 10.1.5 to work, obviously).

Office X SR1 is coming "Real Soon Now?"? I didn't know that! I hope so, Office X is a bit flaky. With SR1 and Jagwire it's looking good! So, 10.1.5 coming "Real Soon Now?" too?

Does anyone know a complete list of changes?

Has a release date been confirmed for 10.1.5? I've found it readily available on the filesharing program known as Limewire... I dont trust that because it could be corrupted etc.

    Thanx

No formal acknowledge from Apple on 10.1.5, but Microsoft officials (specifically Kevin Browne) have stated clearly on two separate occasions this spring, that Office v.X SR1 will be released "in very late May or early June." The most recent comment was about a week ago if I remember right. So all indications are that they are on track to get this thing out the door on time.

And it IS a big update (functional changes and updates as well as bug fixes - over 1000 of them according to MS), so keep your eyes peeled during the next week.

You can assume then that 10.1.5 will preceeed SR1 by at least 1 day (or be released on the same day perhaps) because the new anti-aliased text rendering support in SR1 will require 10.1.5 to work....

It seems that Apple's been announcing or releasing new things on Monday or Tuesday every week for the last several weeks now (since a week before WWDC when they had new PBs), so I would guess that 10.1.5 will come out tomorrow, Tuesday, May 28, 2002.

I mean, it's already available on iBooks, so it's just a matter of getting it up on their servers.

*smile* Only microsoft could release a patch that contains hundreds of bug-fixes... Still, I'll be glad when Office SR-1 comes out. It will be nice to have.

I thought it was only on the display models at the Apple Stores because a lot of people have said that their iBooks came with a newer version of 10.1.4.

I've heard different stories about what's going on in the Apple Stores. In general Rogue, I tend to agree with you. I'm thinking Tuesday as well. But if not, it won't be much longer at all.
