Overall, I don't see issues with my Macs running 10.5.3 I do however notice problems with my PowerMac G5 ever since I started using Time Machine. I observe behavior after waking it from sleep where I am unable to access the Internet, restart, or shutdown. Also, I am unable to launch applications after waking it.
I was hoping that 10.5.3. would fix the issues but it hasn't. I don't have any complaints with my MacBook Pro (Penryn).
Fix the Finder so it automatically remembers view settings (icon, list, column) for each folder without the user having to hard-code it in View Options.
For all of the people complaining about problems that Apple just seems intent on not fixing, have you submitted bug reports? This is meant as an actual question, not in an accusatory manner.

Even that is not permanent. I've done this through the view method many times only to see that my customized defaults are not persistent.
Also I need a Finder up arrow for getting back to home even though I never came from home. Can I do this somehow [without a 3rd party utility]?
Why don't you kick off FTFFW thread and I will be the second post. I don't know what Apple was thinking with the new Firewall in Leopard. My only disappointment thus far.
What is actually the problem with Firewall in Leopard?

I have to run in a meeting but the basics are this. It is application based and not port number based. So you "allow" or "disallow" certain programs privileges that are installed on your machine. You don't just open a port anymore. It is vague at best and in my opinion less secure.
If three maintenance releases of an operating system did not correct what you perceive to be a significant issue, you might consider that the problem is not as widespread as you think and may likely be a configuration issue on your part.
I travel worldwide and have my MBP (10.5.3) with me at all times. It has connected to every wireless network without exception. These include hotspots at cafes, hotel banquet rooms, corporate offices, bank networks and exchanges. I run a private equity fund and all of my staff carry Macs with Leopard. No problem at all anywhere we go.
Agreed. I feel for those of you who have had issues, I really do. However, I have not had these issues either. We have about 60 Macs running Leopard (both Intel & PPC) and so far I've received no negative feedback from staff about their Macs since upgrading to 10.5.3.
My wireless works wherever I go as well, no issues at all unless it is some goofy hotel network where they've screwed up their routing. I know it is them because I'm usually the only Mac user but not the only one having issues.
By the way, I have always run permissions repairs both before & after every update, this has always served me well.

The CS3 problem? Very sad, but Apple can't test every other program to make sure it runs perfectly on it.
I agree. CS3 is an obscure suite that nobody really uses.
Apple can't fix what they don't know about.

And maybe this time Apple will fix the disappearing Firewire for sure!
Could you please elaborate? I am having FireWire problems as well....

It's still there. They just changed the location.
System Prefs->Security Pane -> Firewall tab.
Unless you're referring to other issues.

Gotta run...
Like I said, ipfw is still there, you just have to use it from the Terminal instead now.
Running to the terminal for that goes against the idea of OS X. I can use the terminal just fine, but that doesn't mean I want to, if it can avoided.

It's like calling Linux a user-friendly-desktop ready to replace Windows....
