To clarify; I want internet on the iPhone nano as much as the next guy, and I think it would be stupid idea to not have it on there, but none of that would lead me to believe that Apple aren't capable of, or wouldn't deliberately cripple the iPhone nano in such a way.

If Apple did everything they were supposed to do we'd have a newly designed Mighty Mouse years ago.

Man. if its on the touch then it will be on the "nano" IF there is such a thing, but I have a feeling there wont be.

there will continue to be the upsell bigger capacity phone, ie there will be 2 iPhones and capacity will be the "only real" differentiator that people will care about.

why limit the potential market of the App store by not including internet on ALL touch devices? as you say, it would be stupid. so it WILL be there, however there just wont be a nano model

    2. I used the MM in an Apple store, "Ahh" I thought, this is the MM this is supposed to be crap, I won't like it then.. but first Leopard and the Apps I want to see.. they became my focus and I used the MM Right clicking and all without a single thought about HOW to go about using it. THATS how intuitive *I* found it. stop thinking about it and "it just works"

I have no testament to actually LIVING with it of course.

I played around very briefly with the iPhone SDK. Basically for drawing on the screen, you should be able to use relative positioning if you can get a number back from the OS on what size screen the iPhone is using. Hence any non-vector elements in the page should be able to be scaled accordingly by Cocoa Touch's image processing.

"Total remake" is not so relevant, because good programming practice dictates that your UI should be abstracted enough that you can adapt to many different screen resolutions and colours, etc.

By early next year, we could see 4", 6", even 10" multi-touch devices. Good developers would already have this covered by the time it is announced.

The problem with the MM, as intuitive as it is, is that it breaks. I have three dead ones on a shelf behind me.

If they could improve the quality with which they were made, they would have a great device.

BTW, the wireless version is just too darned heavy; feels like you're moving a brick. Same weight as my Microsshaft mouse, but not as smooth gliding.

The level of suckage the MM has is too darn sucky. It's too small for an adult male hand, the ball design is bad, the hidden buttons confuses the old, the squeeze buttons are not a comfortable action, wireless one is a little heavy, pricey for what you get, tracking is not fast enough when set to full speed (full speed should be too fast to one can come down a little to fine tune too their preference). The list goes on...

If Logitech's are the Farrari of mice, Apple make the Lada's.

i know apple mice are small, but I think they want you to rest your wrist in one place and move the thing around with your fingers. Oh and I don't like the MM either, and I've got a Logitech instead.

I think Apple use the iPod touch as the iPhone nano equivalent - it has most things an iPhone has except the phone and camera, its thinner, and doesn't cost as much if you account for the price of an iPhone handset and contract. I know its no smaller than an iPhone except for thickness, but for Apple these days thinner is the new smaller (coughmacbookaircough )

saw this on iphone atlas, part of cnet.com

An employee with Vodafone has provided iPhone Atlas with what is allegedly a hands-on report with the second-generation, 3G iPhone, yielding the following observations:

    The back is gloss black.

The 4 models we have have a black skin wrapped around the back and glued into place. This is how they came from Apple.

All are running v2.0 of the firmware.

The bootloader hardware exploit is now fixed.

The phone is running V 04.41.01 modem software.

The phone is locked down like no phone has ever been. At this stage, you can?t jailbreak it and you can?t hardware unlock it.

There is an added icon for contacts. This allows you to go straight to your contacts without having to hit the Phone icon first.

The GPS works very well. It will attempt to obtain your position via WiFi first, cell tower second, then satellite third. The accuracy appears to be within 3 meters.

We were getting a data transfer of 140kbps on average. It droped down to 70 kbps when we went inside.

Apart from that, the ?feel? is much the same. The phone is smaller (I would say 20 percent) and it is noticable when you pick the unit up.

As with all iPhone 3G rumors, take this as you will.

I have two Mighty Mouse and none of them have broken for me. The scroll ball does, however, stop working sometimes, but with the proper cleaning technique I explained above, the scroll ball starts working again.

the ball design is bad?? what?? it should be more.. ball-y???? WTF!

its clear you have freakishly UN-Steve-like hands you therefore must return all the Apple branded tech you have and shackle yourself to a windoze machine, I hope you can adjust to a life of being shunned.

    {shudder}

you dont have "Proper" sized hands?? how.. how could that happen in this day and age? didn't you get the memo? won't someone do the surgery for you?

    I just don't get it.

    you have my sympathies

    sincerely
