10.1.5 build 5S57
Hi folks, just installed 10.1.5 build 5S57.
It seems never than the one mentioned in another thread here.
I got it from a friend who had DL it from a Carracho server. It works great, and the installer says it will work with the Rage Pro in the Rev b(!)- to D imacs. Not the rev A, since rev a has Rage 2 or something.
I have not tried it in an iMac, but I will this weekend.
My Radeon 8500 works great with the new system (10.1.5 5S57), it did not work with the" old" 10.1.5 5S43.
Take care guys, and keep up the good work

hopefully this will make EV Nova perform a bit better.

Why would it?
EV already bypasses Quartz's double buffering and uses a custom engine for the effects and drawing. That's why it can run in OS9 too. I can't imagine EV getting any performance boosts from system updates with exception to recompiling with gcc 3.1.
Keep pirating those Apple OS betas, it really does make you cooler. Why would anyone run a beta OS, you are just asking for trouble.

I agree. I don't know if you remember, but after 10.0 came out last March, a few days later someone posted 10.0.1 before it was released, and I (like an idiot) downloaded and installed it. Luckily it didn't screw up anything, but you never know.

You probably don't want to install a beta update to your main system setup, but if you have an extra HD to play with beta updates on why not? Developers do it all the time, and if you don't install a beta OS on your main system then you should run into any problems, since you can just reboot back to your main system once you've had enough of playing with the beta.
I'm glad people are doing this because it provides us with some information regarding futures releases of OS X.

I install beta all the time on one of my other computers (An older G4) I use for beta testing and the like. I would never install a beta on my main system! That's just dumb..... Heh the beta I got of Jaguar is very buggy... 10.1.5 isn't bad though.

Developers can legally obtain these betas, for the rest of us its illegal. And when you get this stuff off Caracho or Pr0nline, uh i mean Hotline, you run the risk of installing a virus or a trojan. Just wait for the release, you are more likely to be disappointed by a pirated beta anyway.

That's exactly why I regretted installing that 10.0.1 update.
While I wouldn't do what you are doing, hewhohatesPC, I appreciate what you are doing. I mean guys, sometimes the temptation is uncontrollable, and Jeez, if he downloaded it or obtained it, he might as well share info.
Isn't that what this site AppleInsider, is about? At least supposedly? I come here for the smart people, but this is still nice stuff to know.
Nick DePlume claims to know of a 6C48 build that was seeded last week. Also, the NMR had another useless report on the 22nd - right after the vague (and hard to believe) "We'll see Jaguar at MWNY" comments on the 17th.

Snappier? Not likely

Well that sucks. All OS X updates have been snappier?.
And thanks for info hewhohatesPC.
Apple's actual releases are usualyl OK - although some of them hose people. iPod update anyone? I've never had a CD or download from Apple acutally destroy any data I had.
I'll wait for the real release. it may even be different from the one you have. i hpe they don't charge for it (how can they? It's a hundredth-point difference! )
Hmm... So we still don't know when it ships? If it's in the Apple store, would it be right to assume it's coming this week or next?

It's been in the Apple stores since the new iBooks came out last week.

Apparently I missed out on the marketing / RDF indoctrination ceremony.
I am the owner of a lovely lombard 400 (the ones that don't crash with third party ram under OS X) and got quite excited about the possibility of rage pro support under 10.1.5. This hasn't been mentioned in any article regarding the next minor revision, and I was wondering if someone could confirm or deny the claim.
