Jan. 22 Special Event?

Posted:
in Future Apple Hardware edited January 2014
Spymac's reporting two separate sources in distribution that hinted at something happening on Jan. 22. Sounds like a good time for the PowerMacs to be updated; it's in line with the display promotion ending and the 10 day ship time on new PowerMacs.

Here's crossing my fingers...

    Well, if Spymac says it...

Well, Flint Center, the usual place where Apple holds these events, has a "blank" space for January 22 in their calender.

Wasn't the iPod introduction held at the Apple campus itself?

The i(ce)Book debut was held right on Apple's campus. I'm sure they could do the same with this, as long as "the press" isn't as pissed at Apple is ding dong Coursey over at ZDNET thinks.

I thougth we all agreed never to go to that place again? They used the pre-MW hype to generate huge amount of hits so they could cash in advertising money now. Don´t feed their pockets when theyt use you like that.

I don´t believe you unless you give us pictures and video as proff. And no. Not the spymac kind.

I find Architosh is pretty reliable too.

Only 11 out of 31 days in January are booked at this Flint Center...so this really doesn't mean anything at all. Also, when's the last time Apple used the Flint Center for a special event? I thought they've been holding events right in Cupertino?

I do not find Arcintosh reliable.

The implication behind their prognostications is that they are a professional-oriented site, and therefore their rumors are more valuable or reliable than rumors posted at spymac or A|I or MOSR, when in fact, this is patently untrue, and they have yet to demonstrate otherwise that they are any better at amateur predictions than Mr. Meader or Mr. Plume.

not because i believe spymac, but because i have stated here at appleinsider before... i really feel that the PM line will get at least some sort of up-date by Feb 1st...i have no insider info...just i feeling...and have thought that since the new iMac was released (actually before, since i thought that the new iMac would get it's own show)....the PM will be up-dated, and more sooner than later....g

now whether it is G5 of G4 apollo i have no clue or thoughts...hoping for G5 so the power folks here can be as happy as the consumer folks are with the new iMac and the iBooks...g

Please try to give more info when stating something like this. Like I know someone who told me, or I can't reveal my sorce but they told me G5s are coming or something to help believe your statements. Even a broad non specific source added to your info will sound a lot more convincing.

    So, tell us more !!

Since Motorola haven´t changed their road map not to include the G5 its pretty clear that "New power macs will be G5. Don't know when though.". I´m even gonna go as far as saying that new power macs will be G6. Don't know when though

Info is per an Apple employee. Could be completely wrong, but it makes sense. If all they were going to do is speed bump the G4 they probably would have done it at MacWorld.

SJ said G4 over the whole line, but that has never been the case. iMac came out with G3 shortly after this they announced G4 in PM. It's the same now. The iMac has a G4 and the PM will get within 2months a G5.

YOu see it all makes sense, like <a href="http://www.architosh.com"; target="_blank">architosh</a> almost predicts now.

The PM G4 was introduced September 1999 and the iMac was introduced August 1998. So with this kind of logic (which I don´t subscribe to) we will have a PM G5 in feburary 2003.
