Would be great if iLife included some Adobe apps, especially Photoshop Light (instead of MacPaint), iPaint?
Another app that should be bundled into iLife:
- A webified version of Bento (from FileMaker) giving Joe Average a simple tool for publishing database-driven stuff on the 'net (might start a new HyperCard-hype).
Actually Wacom would be an interesting acquisition for them. At least it would buy up patents, intellectual property, and prevent potential costly and time wasting suits.
well, if they go straight for no. 10 (obama) they wouldnt need to worry about any lawsuits or whatever.
I can already picture the mac/pc ads about change we can believe in!
"AAPL was downgraded to neutral from buy at UBS, even after reporting a 26% rise in profit and strong sales of its new 3G iPhone. The broker said strong cash provides downside support but there's uncertainty ahead. Apple "should benefit from early adopters in the fiscal first quarter, but (there's) limited visibility beyond that." The broker added the $635 average selling price for the iPhone seems unsustainable."
I think I'm going to start calling myself an analyst and see how many job offers I get.

Carriers have seen their subscribers defect to AT&T in droves. That makes the price readily sustainable. It's a rare phone that makes people switch carriers at a significant rate.
Here is a thought: 25B in the bank....Dell capitalization 25B....buy Dell, own corporate and consumer
Seriously though, if all they do is "weather the storm" with their 25B in this economic downturn, HUGE opportunity lost.
It would be funny if Apple bought Dell. Didn't Micheal Dell say he would close down Apple and give the money back to the shareholders? Maybe Steve should do the same for Mr. Dell... The irony.
Sun would give Apple serious big iron penetration and there's still some good tech in Solaris that isn't present anywhere else and some sharp folks working at Sun. If you could get OSX with a Solaris kernel (for uber scalability) from a 72 CPU Sun Fire E25K server down to a MacBook that would be very nice for the enterprise user. And very nice for anyone needing a lot of cpu cycles above what an XServe can push out.
It's not, IMHO, a good enough reason to buy Sun but could you imagine the freetard screaming after Jobs stopping GPL releases of Java and moving Solaris back to closed source? That's worth quite a bit just in humor factor.

Assuming they buy Sun, I don't see why Apple would necessarily close Java and Solaris. Apple uses a lot of OSS, and even contributes to open source software projects.

At least, that's what you'll be hearing from the mainstream press.

Here's a new quote to chew on, from UBS -
That's just getting crazy.
UBS has LOST money equal to about half of Apple's current market cap since the beginning of last year:
