Amazon never promised delivery on or by August 24. My order said Aug 27 or 28 with fast delivery. I will check tracking Monday to see if it may come earlier as sometime Amazon orders do. I will get a $50 rebate so I can wait a few extra days.
UPDATE: Delivery (2 day) has been changed to 29-30. Remember, Amazon has to receive product from Apple and they have no control over that I'm afraid.
Go to a retail store, buy a copy and then cancell your Apple order. Tuesday is way to long. Gotta play with it on the weekend ya know
I have a couple of question questions for any of you X-Gurus:
How do you reccomend updateing? I have a 20 gig external. Would it be of any use to copy my files to that, wipe my main hard drive and start fresh? or would a clean install be good enough? I am just not sure with all of the little hidden files OSX has. I have seen some posts where people said they didn't see any big improvements in 6C115 until the did a clean install. Is that true with the retail release?
I really wasn't expecting mine today, but I just got it. Even with the free ground shipping I got it a day early. Not bad.

I was lucky like you. I simply requested free ground shipping for my order placed for the 19.99 price after purchasing a new 17" iMac and recieved it today at 10:30 am EST. Install went smoothly. Very snappy and all my files are intact. So far So Good!
Ok, so what does it mean when Apple gives you a tracking number and tells you that your product shipped the 21st in their email...yet FedEx tells you that the number is not valid. I talk to a 'live' Apple person and one says it went out the 21st and I will get it today while another says FedEx hasn't picked it up yet. How very irritating...
Got my UK copy today, which seems to have all the iApps included, according to the box.
However, since this is my first-ever OS X install, I'm not playing until I've backed-up everything else to a variety of Firewire drives and CDs, reactivated all the Classic extensions, thrown out all the crud I've got sitting in the Applications folder and defragged the daylights out of my main drive .
I did have a very interesting discussion with the lady at the TNT depot about all the people whose orders couldn't be delivered this morning and were sitting in a very big pile on the floor.

Did you read that in the booklet, or did the installer stop you? If the installer doesn't ask for it, you don't need it.

I was in the same situation (had a FedEx # from Apple which FedEx didn't recognize). Called Apple today and learned that the package had been assigned a tracking number at Apple but never actually picked up for shipping. So my order will ship Monday via FedEx 2-day (the option I originally ordered) and Apple is refunding my $5 shipping fee. It would've been really nice if they'd upped my order to next day, but what're you gonna do?
It does mean I have to go another weekend without, living vicariously through you all.

Delosic
a) go home on friday night and play with computer
or
b) go out to happy hour and get wasted and install new os saturday morning with hangover
choices, choices
of course i could go home and play with the kids....nahhh....g
happy hour is probably losing out so Os X may actually save me some brain cells...perhaps apple should tout that as a benefit of upgrading...g
that's what i am doing
