If you think Apple has a large team of seasoned Cocoa developers working on iWorks instead Snow Leopard then you don't know your NeXT History.

The entire company of Lighthouse Design was around 40 people. The team that developed Lotus Improv was less than ten. The members of various other advanced applications, including Framemaker was small.

This application suite is being limited, by design.

If they wanted to directly compete with Office they could easily do so.

Okay, this may not be a compatibility or a bug issue, but what is is the inability to view Pages '09 on your iPhone! You can view Word and Pages '08, but NOT '09, WHY? Now that is news!

This is just a guess, but the change mentioned in this forum regarding iWork '08 or earlier files being sent as MPKG and iWork '09 files being sent as ZIP may be the issue. A simple iPhone should resolve it. Have you updated to v2.2.1?

    This is news? Whuuutt?

Every file created by ClarisWorks/AppleWorks that I can remember could never open on a previous version of the software. Same with FileMaker Pro.

Come to think about it...I have a problem at work with people who use iPhoto '08 on their MacBooks and are appalled that they cannot open the library on their eMac that still has iPhoto '05...because "the library was created with a newer version of iPhoto." Duh! Same with iTunes libraries. This problem is particularly common on mix and match systems where users home directories are on a network file server.

So how the fuck is this any surprise that iWork '09 files will not open on iWork '08?

Yes, my iPhone is up-to-date, still won't display any iWork '09 documents... It will still display '08 and Word though... Why isn't this news?

Is this an early April Fool's Day joke?

Apple is a business. Not a charity. This is standard practice, especially for Apple.
