The update seems OK to me, except for one rather irritating new feature/bug and one BIG disappointment:
1. If you have your apps in other folders than the original setup before installing 10.2.2 you are in for a surprise. Your old apps are left untouched (as usual), while the update create new files in Apple's preferred default arrangement. These files are not complete apps, but, I guess, just the updated code.
From Apple: "Improves updating of applications installed with Mac OS X, updating them only if they have not been relocated or deleted."
Well Einstein, how do I now get Mail.app updated if I was stupid enough to move it to a sub-folder?
2. No additional internationalizations (for users outside the US, Sherlock is still nothing more than a big heap of manure)
How can I download the stand-alone installer from 10.2.1 to 10.2.2 ? I can't use the software update from my OS X machine, since I don't have an internet connection at home. I have to download the installer at work and bring it to home. I'm using OS 9 at work.
I checked the Apple web site, and didn't found any stand-alone updater for 10.2.2.

Well, this is what worked back in 10.1, but I can't guarantee that it will work now.
You have to do this before a restart otherwise the temporary file will be deleted.
1) In the finder, press shift+cmd+g.
2) Type /tmp in the box that comes up
3) copy the .pkg that's there.
Again, this worked for 10.1 and it may not anymore. HTH.
edit: nevermind, I just realized that you said you're using OS9 at work. Sorry. Maybe someone can put it up for download?

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, sorry. I have access to the internet (like right now) only at work on an old iMac with OS 9. I need to download the OS X 10.2.2 updater, to update my home machine which is using 10.2.1. I don't have internet access there.
So I just need to download an 10.2.1 -> 10.2.2 updater here, at work, and bring it at home on a CD. That's what I have done in september to update 10.2.0 to 10.2.1. Now, I can't find any stand-alone updater ready for download at the Apple's site.

See my edit. We're getting our signals crossed here. Like Addison said, VT will have a link soon enough.
Ok so someone help me out here. I am totally baffled.
I just updated to 10.2.2. and now mail.app and any browser I use won't connect to my mail server if I use the domain name of that server - it will only work if i use the IP address.
If I keep my old settings of mail.server.com as my mail server it just times out, but the IP works. Also, if I go to my webmail server at http://mail.server.com it also times out (but the server is up and working fine on any other computer).
So that would lead me to believe there is some kind of weird DNS resolution issue going on, but if go to the terminal and do a nslookup on mail.server.com it responds with the correct IP. So WTF is going on?
Well I can tell you one thing about 10.2.2 Norton is broken again. Big surprise but it's the same problem as the last time......it doesn't see the hard drive. Yea, I know big surprise.
I compiled Bonnie and tested my drives with journaling enabled and disabled. I didn't see any noticeable performance delta for typical disk usage. Once you start dealing with thousands and thousands of small files though, there is a noticeable drop in performance. Anywhere from 10-25%

I'm not installing this virus anymore. This is the last time I use that piece of [beautiful software engeneering].
Is virex a friendly anti-virus? I mean does it install stupid extensions?
so Journaling is a good thing... and its supposedly easier to recover data. Can anyone explain how? Just with FSCK? At least from what I heard the update kills Norton (thank goodness...)

Applications in the Applications folder. What a concept!

Someone help me - this just ain't right!
im told it retains filesystem integrity, allows historical views of data, etc. but what exactly does that mean?

ok, im a little lost on this JFS thing.

It keeps your filesystem from being corrupted when your Mac crashes. This also means that you don't have long pauses at startup after a crash.
