I can't imagine how you could honestly think that I'm stating it ranks as the best slogan of all time from a statement about how slogan marketing works.
Particularly as you missed the ... best slogan of all time...
Aren't forecasts useful if done in advance? Releasing a forecast (adjusted) just days before the announcement of results has an importance and significance that escapes me completely, unless if someone in unable to wait two days.. Or short term speculators?
I honestly don't understand it. If someone can explain I'm more than willing to understand..
You know, there's an app for that too. Voice changing... LOL!
In regards to the quarter, anything over estimates will be considered great considering the guidance was high and the economy is down considerably. In a time when retail sales are down more than 20%, manufacturing is off more than half and spending on R&D is flat if not down across the sectors. Anything over estimates is great.
What really changes the ticker is the guidance.
Apple will do well, MS will try to mate with Yahoo and offspring some kind of morphed reality that again doesn't work, blame yahoo for it then close them down once it goes quiet.
Apple numbers could rally or rack the tech sector.
Tech sector's rallied plenty over the past month. Nothing's going to rally it further - this is sell the news time folks, I hope no one is out there adding to their bets at this point.
I don't go around reciting any commercial but the proof in the pudding. You posted the slogan of an annoying commercial slogan that is still easily recalled and probably still makes you think of the brand, Wendy's. I'd say that its quite clear that catchy phrases work.
Here are some other popular slogans...
Just do it. (Nike)
Tastes great, less filling. (Miller Lite)
Always Coca-Cola. (Coca-Cola)
Melt in your mouth, not in your hands. (M&Ms)
Diamonds are forever. (DeBeers)
Breakfast of champions. (Wheaties)
We try harder. (Avis)
We bring good things to life. (General Electric)
Good to the last drop. (Maxwell House)
Look Ma, no cavities! (Crest)
Don?t leave home without it. (American Express)
I?m lovin it! (McDonalds)
The DeBeers slogan is probably the most impressive one.
And let's not forget the Ron White version of the DeBeers Ads-" Diamonds!! That'll shut her up!!" Sorry, I know that was a bit off subject, but funny none the less.
When the latest "There's an app for that" commercial shows how a small business owner or hobby show/flea market stall operator how to enter an order and create a paper invoice, it shows a potentially huge market of people why it's worth it to them to acquire an iPhone. That's smart advertising. Forget irritating voices. This positions iPhone as offering customers a useful capability they didn't know was out there and that they could use. It's the classic Polaroid instant camera marketing strategy - creating awareness and demand for a previously unimagined product.

thats true. When I hear people on windows mobile forums saying things like "Well we have an app for that too!" I can't help but think, "Who the hell's gonna know about it besides nerds like us?" Microsoft had a few ok windows mobile commercials, but they focused on things like finding a local restaurant, taking pictures and video, and looking up a cab company. It was all things that people have been able to do with wm for a long time.
The main reason you don't see ms with ads talking about third party apps is because they don't get a cut of the sales like apple does with the app store. They fail to see that by showing what's available, you're not just selling someone else's app, but your platform.
It's whatever though. I kind of like wm being the underdog in the mobile world because God knows if everyone had a windows phone, there definitely would be anti virus software for them lol

The fine print he is pointing to says "Canadian Money Not Accepted".

Don't forget adding "DOT COM.... " TO anything. Expedia... DOT COM. Your all saying it in your head right now... Don't lie.
Two stand out in my mind.
Pets DOT COM. + sock puppet = win
[too bad about the company failing]
And...<drum roll>We're the dot in dot com..!!! w00t
Brought to you by... Sun... now Oracle. Since "we're the dot in dot com"... I really had no idea what the hell Sun does anyway.
Solaris, servers, something, Java Everywhere or something like that. "Java will solve all the world's problems!" (Apparently)
Oracle gobbled up Peoplesoft and Sun. What's Oracle's slogan? Nobody cares, company seems like its doing well.
Ah, slogans.
Those are the at&t subsidized Apples.
Yup, 5 cents for an Apple up front but every month you pay $1 for telegraph service.
("WTF? I thought, dear Sir, I was buying an Apple...!!!")
