I don't know about anyone else, but i'd probably do the same thing. Jobs started the company, they kicked him out believing he would not help them. Thats one big breakup. They promptly tanked, while Jobs continued his forward thinking plans (ergo NeXt aka Mac OS X). Apple, floundering, decided to bring him back - and he wanted back.
He kept 1 share of the company, and after helping to restore Apple to one of the most successful companies in the world, he wanted a little bit of vindication in the the only way you can in a publicly traded company: real, legal ownership in the form of stock.
What a bunch of idiots for not figuring that out on their own, either.
FYI: The stock rose 1000% since Jobs returned.
FYI#2: Yes, the price was negotiated, but Jobs later traded it in for restricted stock of a LESSER value. Oh, and hasnt sold any of it..... so indeed, this many have not been so much about the money.
STFU. You know nothing of the man. Narcissism is not even on the horizon about this guy. I've worked for him twice. He's not remotely narcissistic.
Gates on the other hand, from colleagues, thinks he's a god.
AGREED-NARCISSISTS DON'T CRY...Steve cries. We've seen tears. Steve gets upset when he is angry, Steve gets really excited and delighted by his products.
Watch Mr. Obama, however, he makes Bill Gates seem humble (yes it is possible!). No tears, no anger-even when his Grandma died!!!! He just kept on runnin'.
Let Steve alone, and appreciate that without him, we would have probably spent the last quarter century typing on a Selectric and drawing on graph paper. If you worked for Apple you'd understand. Where else can you be honestly and completely behind every product and device that is produced? We all got so spoiled. Remember, we can even run miserable Windows 7 on our glorious Macs!!!

I wouldn't expect it to be like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory with Oompa Loompas singing and dancing as they develop the next gen iPhone OS.
Personally, I'd love to work for a company like Apple if I didn't already work for such an awesome company.
Same here... I work for myself!
