Can I download the 10.2.4 Combo .dmg at work on my pc - save it to a disk, and then download it at home on my Mac?

Positively yes! .dmg files have no resource fork so you can download them on a PC, burn an ISO CD, take it to your Mac, install the updates and have fun.
I have DSL at work and could have downloded it and run it tonight.
But no.
Only idiots think that 100% of Mac users have broadband...guess Apple is.
Oh, the reason I started a new thread about this is because of the moron who posted his entire kernal panic record in the other...close it if you like...

I sometimes ridicule this type of post just to prove a point...
Apple does provide stand-alone installers. Looks like you're the moron here.
Kernal panic? Not only did you misspell kernel panic, its not even a kernel panic. Looks like you're the moron here.
Even so, the amount of bandwidth consumed by this text is absolutely trivial compared to a single image. Once again... the moron.

Ooops. Anyhoo - Thanks for the advice. Downloaded the updates and work and am now enjoying a much more responsive 10.2.4 and Safari with a few chilly ones.
How I envy you guys with broadband access....and yes, sofware update will presumably continue with interrupted updates, but for me, all it did was sit there with a solid blue bar for HOURS and never would actually complete the update...
Sorry. I was a little imature...but hey...I'm not the only one as I can see.

Heheh... i take back the overly rude comments too. Isn't it great to be able to vent at strangers from home?
I was equally pissed off in the days of 10.0. Modem use ensured a kernel panic 100% of the time on dual machnes... you should have heard my phone calls to apple.
I tried Software Update. Got a 1/4 of the way and...dragged down...snail on quaaludes....I gave up.
I'll try and get it tomorrow at work. IF I can get to work. It's snowing like a MoFo right now...

I don't have high speed access at home.
Apple doesn't add a link to it on their web site.

Please go play in traffic.
Sure. I can wait. I still think Apple should provide an immediate alternative for downloading updates of this size for dial-up people.

I have found one good use for my PC at work....
Here in eastern KY, we don't have dsl or cable (our cable is the defunct Adelphia) and i'm at the edge for dsl, they say June.
I thought the satilite (?sp) isn't supported for the mac, i don't know anyone that has sat and mac.

So how big is this download, I too have dialup and it took 6-7 hours to get 10.2.3

It's around 40MB, which isn't horrific by update standards, but still not fun on dialup...

From what I've read about 10.2.4, I don't think your missing much. If it works, don't fix it...
