Just had a slightly off-the-wall idea WPLJ42. Have you ever considered using a 1080p projector with wireless mouse and keyboard? Project a giant image and sit well back - if that works you get the benefit of running 1920 x 1080 resolution which gives you more screen real-estate to work with.
Good idea. And the best way to do that would be with the new mini display ports in the new macbook pros.
How does one respond to "obsolete platform" and "thinking obsolete ways"? Those are non-statements filled with letters.
Clearly Windows NT is not an obsolete platform, as most of the world runs on it. Clearly Microsoft is not "thinking in obsolete ways" as they retain a powerful stronghold in the consumer OS department and Windows 7 is already a success even before its release.
Vista is a great OS. It's UHC protections are less intrusive than OSX's security features that prompt you incessantly for approval and passwords. The UHC protections dramatically reduce OS vulnerability, my main problem with UHC is that Microsoft stupidly gives users the opportunity to disable it.
I am baffled by those who used XP and found Vista baffling. It's the same thing, UI-wise, except it has some transparency. The "Vista sucks" snowball is kept rolling more by ignorance than experience.
Good idea. And the best way to do that would be with the new mini display ports in the new macbook pros.
The best way? How is that the best way? The way that requires you to use an adaptor? How is that better than using a DVI port or an HDMI port? Sometimes, I struggle to believe that you're for real.

I have no use for a notebook computer. Of all the offerings from Apple, the mini is the only option I'd consider. Waste of good money for me to buy another iMac. Unless I've missed something, Apple has converted everything to the mini display port. My iMac is from late 2007 and it has the mini display port. I would like to see the extra ports from Apple TV included in the mini. Guess that means they could pitch Apple TV. Not a bad idea. Another waste of good money. The mini could do everything Apple TV does. Anyway, on the plus side for all those Windows boxes, you can get the video cards you want and the ports too. On the Mac side, I believe it is necessary to go from mini display to DVI to HDMI. Kinda dumb, eh? Dell, for example, is increasing the number of offerings with built in HDMI.

The main benefit of mini display port is its small size, allowing thin and light form-factors like the MacBook Pros and MacBook Air. You need an adaptor to connect to monitors but gradually more and more monitors will have a display port input and then all that will be required is a suitable cable. As it stands, for the consumer, mini display port is not a drawback, but it's certainly not any better than other connections such as DVI and HDMI.
The Mac Mini actually has both a DVI port and a mini display port, so all you'd need is a DVI to DVI cable or a DVI to HDMI cable, depending on what inputs the monitor has.
Well ... my iMac will be two years old in November. Maybe I will get SL, but it will require me to up my RAM. On the other hand, I may just sit on my thumbs until OS 10.7 is available and get my first mini. Maybe Steve will put an HDMI connector on it and 1080p up-converting software on the DVD player. Apple TV and the mini need to become one!

Buying an adaptor beats the hell out of having to live with windows. With windows everybody is handicapped.
Everything MS puts out these days is a complete failure: Vista, MS Office, etc.
Is Windows 7 going to be really any different? Is it going to require 10000 updates to work?
Tauron, you should be ashamed of posting such a bullshit poll.
I've been an avid mac user for decades. Yet not even I would stoop to this kind of stupidity. If you're going to make a poll, do it right. This kind of crap lowers the level of discourse on this forum.

By definition, I'm already handicapped. What's your point? Go to your Mac OS dictionary. There you will find, most of those Windows users would prefer to be called disabled. I am pleased to know dumb things come out of someone else's mouth, not just mine.

So what you are saying is that Windows 7 is indeed a complete failure.

How can an operating system with as many users as Windows be a failure of any kind. You're crazier than I am. Windows 7 isn't even out yet. Do you use Windows or just complain about it? I have used, in some fashion, every version of Windows since 95, less the NT stuff. This whole Windows vs. Mac OS thing is like Beta vs. VHS. Oh yeah, Beta was superior, but people went with VHS because it was more economical. Beta was only good for 4.5 hours and VHS 6. Go figure.

What the? How the hell did you get that from what he said?
Just out of interest, have you ever used Windows XP SP2, Vista SP1 or Windows 7 for at least a month? Windows is nowhere near as bad as you think it is. (it is bad, just not that bad)

Would you guys just stop feeding him excuses to spew bullshit?

Like a dog chasing his tail. You hope he will get tired and stop. Plus it is easier to pick on someone, than to be picked on. Some people are educated beyond their intelligence. And I may be the pot calling the kettle black.

QED. Goes to show who has their thought process straight and who doesn't.
No dude, that's not calling you a name.
Calling you a name would be like "x is a trolling moron". That would be calling someone a name. But I'm not doing that.
