can iTunes make an iPod act like an iShuffle?

Hi there. My mom gave me her iPod that she won at work since my iPod died.

That iPod is a 1gb Nano (I have a 15gb 3G model), so my library doesn't fit on it.

Is there a way to make this Nano act like an iShuffle, so that every time I plug it into the computer, I get a new random 1G on the player?

Thanks!!

Sadly, no, not "out of the box". You can create a smart playlist and sync to that, but you will have to include a delimiter so it will self-refresh such as "last played is not in the last 30 days".

I could have sworn there was a setting that did that.

what happened to that "autofill" feature that was introduced with the original shuffle? Why can't that be made to work with any iPod?

Kishan, I certainly don't see the iShuffle "Autofill" button anywhere in my iTunes.

Galley, the smart playlists that I make all refer back to the iPod itself, not the full library. How can I make a playlist on the iPod refer to the library?

    Thank you!!

    Here's my current solution.

I just copy the Party Shuffle playlist that comes with iTunes to the iPod.

That seems to be limited to 100 songs, though. Certainly it's good enough for my daily commute.
