how do I re-/de- assign keys (not shortcuts)

hello

I am looking for a way to re-assign some keys on my macbook.

I do not mean to create shortcuts, but I simply want to:

a) disable the 'caps lock' key (fixed thanks to Chucker)

b) change the bottom 'enter' key into an extra 'ctrl' key.. (still waiting..)

is there any way how to do this within OSX or maybe with 3rd party software?

I found threads about controllermate and quickeys, but they seem to either only work for shortcuts or need the software running all the time..

(I must admit I did not install that software, but only read the info pages of them)

thanks,

eric.

System Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard -> Modifier Keys? lets you disable Caps Lock, but not reassign Enter. Not sure why you would want to do that anyway; that key is kinda useful.

if I reassign the enter key into ctrl, it will enable me to make one handed shortcuts with ctrl+arrow keys, which it won't let me do with the enter key

and those are really handy for virtuedesktops.

the non-US layout has a different key there by default anyway, so it should be possible..

    that's why.

thanks on the caps lock tip, I'll try it when I get back from last minute shopping.
