Keep in mind it says OEM VERSION. Not the retail

Holy crap, look at the fan on that baby. Hopefully, it's not too loud. Any idea when it will be out in a retail version and will it be under $300?

If the history repeats itself the mac version will be $100 US on top of the PC version

I do not tolerate loud computers and would have chucked it if it were loud. My PC is practically inaudible.

    Thanks for the input,

Maybe it just looks big and loud because of the way it is wrapped in some sort of heatsink.

It's not whisper quiet, but it's no louder than the fan on my Radeon 8500.

Here's my 3DMark 2003 scores for a slightly overclocked PC and slightly overclocked Radeon 9700 Pro...

By contrast, the GeForce 4 Ti 4600 gets <2000 3DMarks.

I've heard that the 8500 can be quite loud. Is this true or are those isolated issues with some cards?

Well, I have one and again, it's very quiet. Perhaps my PC case is quieter than others which is why I simply can not hear the fan. I have a new Dell and their clamshell PCs are very quiet. Since I have a very quiet tower case, HD, CPU fan and Power Supply, I'd think I'd hear GPU fan if it were noticeable (unless the case is concealing the noise). Sometimes I have to look at the power light my PC to see if it's on and not sleeping! Also, the 9700 Pro's fan is not big at all. It looks much bigger in that pic. Most of the black you see is the surrounding heat sink.
