Who else loves their TiBook?

Having just got a 15" 867 TiBook for a nice price, I just wanted to fully express my love for this piece of equipment in full verbiage. The moment of unpacking it (which was all documented with my trusty little coolpix 950) was singular. Seeing that BEAUTIFUL computer for the first time...unforgettable. The screen is equally incredible - at a just-right size/resolution. I love it, I love it, I love it! I don't know what the thing is about the keyboard - I keep hearing people ask if the new PowerBooks' keyboards are that much better. This one feels great compared to the Pismo I had (whose keys I now notice were not full size), so I really can't see how it can be better (perhaps I'm just not so picky in the presence of such a purtty machine). And it's fast too! I didn't think it was at first (comparing it to Pismo), but after going back to the Pismo it became more than obvious.

Way to go, apple - I know I'm late in the game as far as the PBG4 goes, but what a beautiful product. It's going to end up in a glass box when I get something else in, say, five years. Beautiful!

Hey man I totally agree, I just bought the 1GHZ @ Developer's Discount (yea yea, I could have waited for the update).. I mean this thing is amazing, all this power in a portable. I'm not going to need the Airport Extreme & I've got a D-Link Bluetooth adapter.. I kinda prefer the old school Titanium vs the new style. I've gotten nothing but compliments, and I just love the hell out of it. Kudos to Apple on an excellent machine!

Spectacular machine aint it?

I was debating between this or a new 12"...zero regrets.

There is something missing (design-wise) on the new aluminums...they are fine machines, but something is not there....

Perhaps the sexiness/alure of Titanium, or the 2-tone color-scheme?...i dunno, iM just happy.

I couldn't agree less (I love the new machines compared to the Tibooks) but I think it is great that you guys are happy with your new machines. Too many people seem to think that their tastes have to apply to everyone, and berate people who don't agree. The tibook is a fine machine.

Definitely. Even though I just got my 12", I still envy owners of the 1 GHz PowerBook. The new models don't take anything away from the old ones; in fact, Titanium is now a classic.

before the 12"/17" were released, i was really hoping for a mini-Ti.... its just that the 12" isnt quite just there yet for me. I aint knocking it (i spent a sleepless week trying to decide between a used mint-conditioned 800mhz-Titanium for 200,000yen/1700US$ or a new 12" for 270,000yen nicely configured). I just couldn't pull the trigger on the new hardware, price-performance wise.

Maybe for revision B or C, the 12" might be more of a gem, as a second machine to compliment my titanium.

Did someone mention love???

ME very much in love with my 800Mhz TiBook. It is the best thing. I have had it almost a year and the novalty is yet to wear off. If I were to amortise the value of my TiBook for every hour I have used it, it would have been done 1000 times over.

I use it every day, my dad who doesn have a clue about Computers loves it, It STILL carries wow factor, I love, I love I love.

Crap, carp and more crap. The tibooks that we have had in the center have been the worst apple machines. I have had zero kernal panics on the emacs, zeron kernal panics on the G4 towers, and 20+ kernal panics on the tibooks. Every time you log out, you get a kernal panic. Not to mention that they are selective on what CD Roms they will read. We also have a Pismo that is great in comparison. It is butt ugly and wieghs a ton, but its stable.

Hmmm. i have had every rev of the TiBook, and nothing like that has ever happened for me. That is suspicious.

I've had my TiBook for a year...and I've had exactly 2 (knock on wood) kernel panics. One was when I installed a third party prepane, and one was when I logged out. Otherwise...its been good to me. I just wrote my Masters thesis in its entirety on this baby, and I'm so glad I had it so I could work at home in my PJ's and not have to trudge in to lab. And I always get asked about it when I use it in public places. Apple should send me some ad money

I love my Ti, I just don't like it's Rage128 chipset. It is hard to imagine (already) that it was the high end laptop at one time. (Ti500)

I still love my 667 DVI, I use it every day for work. It's the second-best Mac I've ever owned, after my Cube. But I have serious lust for a new 15-inch SuperDrive Ti. I'm not too enamored of the looks of the aluminum PowerBooks, and I like my ports on the back, thanks. I'm thinking I'll wait and see what happens with the 15-inch line, and if I don't care for the revision, I'll try to pick up a current 1GHz Ti on closeout.

I loved my Pismo and now I love my TiBook 1 GHz.

Such a beautiful machine and so fast too! It's a wonderful computer.

I have had my TiBook for around 2 months now and I still love it. When I first saw the 17in during Macworld I reeeeally wanted it. The new technology was a big plus for me. I still had the chance to replace my machine for a 17in but I opted to keep my 15in. The 12in is too small and the 17in is too big for me. I take my TiBook everywhere I go and size is a big deal.

Not to knock on the new machines at all but I truely love my machine and think I will do so for some time to come.

I really like the 17 inch, but I think I will wait for the 15 inch to be replaced (you can't really get a 17 now anyway...) - in that I think its an ideal form factor for my first ever laptop... I can't focking wait!!! I think my entire lifestyle will change when my cord is cut...

I just bought myself the 1ghz Powerbook, love it, best notebook I?ve ever owned. I did want to wait for the new one until I really started thinking about it. Cheaper metal, slower video, poser DDR, ports on the side, ugly keyboard, lower resolution and first edition of a new line. Sure, I get integrated Bluetooth and a faster bus, but I just didn?t want to wait another two months for those features. Besides, I buy a new Powerbook every year anyway. Oh yea I ordered it with the combo drive and it came with a superdrive, nice huh. 200.00 bucks rebate, not so bad.

I bought the Rev. A 500MHz PowerBook just over two years ago and I still love it! I'd love to update to one of the newer 'Books, but I couldn't go down to a 12" display after using the PB, and the 17" (even though I haven't seen it yet) just sounds so large that it really wouldn't be good as a true portable.

Hopefully the new 15" models (if they really exist) will sport all the features of the 17" model. That would probably get me onto the upgrade treadmill!

I got my 1GHZ Powerbook at Christmas as a present for myself. I always had a cheap old PC at home and used macs at work, man this thing rocks

I did something stupid tho I went out and got the apple pro mouse, when I got this thing and then got the kensington pro mouse so now I'm one mouse too many, if anyone wants to buy my apple pro mouse (the white color) for say 20$ + shipping PM me. Other than that I do all my work on this thing. I have an old G4 400 at work and that thing was a work horse, but now its working in style for me.

BTW is it possible to stripe between 2 firewire drives??? for redundancy sake. eh I'll start a new thread on the question tomorrow.
