My 15" Ti Powerbook dream machine...
Here is what I intend to buy.
Tell me what you think.
15" Ti PB - 1Ghz, 512MB or 1GB memory, 60GB HD, Superdrive, Apple mouse
Software
Office X
Quicken 2003
Photoshop Elements OR Photoshop 7?
Dreamweaver MX
iPod - 20GB
I think that's it to start off with? The Photoshop question is a toughy. How much less powerful is Elements to version 7?

As far as I know, Elements is meant mostly as a mainstream digital photo editor. It actually comes with many cameras these days. If that's all you need it for, then Elements seems ideal.
-Dual 867
P.S. I'd go with 1 GB of RAM, especially for Photoshop tasks.

do NOT buy your ram from apple
pirate Office as apple may be coming out with a much better alternative soon
I've been looking at other places to purchase additional memory.
The mouse really isn't worth $60? But it's soo coool looking!!!...then how about if I got the MS intellimouse optical?
And if you buy your ti at macmall you will get another 512 for free ($35 install charge)

Get the Logitech MX700. That's all that needs to be said.
As for the PowerBook itself, I have the 1 GHz 15" TiBook and I love it. Skip the external mouse unless you absolutely know you need one, though. I always use the trackpad without any issue, even though I have an Apple mouse (which I got for free from MWNY when it was announced). I know some people really don't like using the trackpad but I generally prefer it, especially when I'm just lounging around.
Talk of pirating commercial software and giving out locatations of where to illegally download commercial software is not allowed on these forums. Please read the Posting Guidelines for more information.

Sorry...my bad...
If this is an issue, you might want to add it to the posting guidelines. The current version does not mention pirated software.
Get what makes you happy. If you don't, you will never be pleased with it. I have a 667 Powerbook with a Apple keyboard and a Apple Mouse with it. Nothing looks more tacky than having a off brand mouse with a powerbook.( been there and done that) You paid big bucks for your Ti don't cheapin it by buying crap for it.

I'm not talking about looks... I'm talking about function... for $60 you can get a mouse that has much better functionality then the Apple one and looks good as well
currently I have the exact same set up, the difference being that my apple keyboard and mouse came from my old iMac, so i did not drop $120 on it... [quote] Just because some people give advice, telling you to buy this and that (off brand) The real reason they can't afford buying the real thing.

where do you get off? WRONG. the "real" reason is because the $ spent on an apple mouse could be much better spent/saved... Being able to afford to buy something does NOT mean you should buy it
Well even if the posting guidelines don't mention it, the thing you agreed to when you signed up does. Discussion of how to pirate software is not allowed on AI.

Heaven forbid you use common sense.
The way I see it, the software companies bring it upon themselves, the prices for much software out there is simply absurd, no matter what it does or how well it does it. At least as much money goes into the making of a film/DVD or video game as has gone into the making of any application suite yuo care to mention. But you can buy DVD's-games for 20-100USD. In that range, piracy wouldn't even be an issue, people would just buy the stuff.
Since your are getting Adobe Photoshop Elements/Photoshop 7, why not go for GoLive 6 instead of Dreamweaver MX?
For the mouse;
I switch to a Logitech optical wheel mouse back in those original Apple USB mouse, then I purchased the MX700 few weeks ago. Frankly speaking, they all work pretty good. Now, the white Apple Pro mouse is come with my new hardware, I love it... Since you want to purchase a mouse for an add-on, it doesn't mean you have to stick with the Pro mouse.

I know I'm just being pedantic here - and probably not endearing myself to anyone - but unless the Rules, Policies, and Disclaimers that I agreed to have changed since I registered, this is not the case. They currently state:

Perhaps the posting guidelines should be updated to make AI policy vis Ã* vis discussion of pirated software explicitly clear - thus avoiding further confusion.
Anyway, all of this aside, I stand corrected. Sorry for further derailing the thread
