None at all, IMO. bought a refurb iMac 2 GHz Core Duo. Instead of the stock 512 MB RAM I got 1 GB RAM. Instead of the 128 Video RAM I got 256 MB and I got 500 GB HDD instead of stick 250 BG HDD. Everything looked brand new and has worked for over a year now with no glitches. The 20"screen is drop-dead gorgeous. I love it!!!

I'd buy a refurb or even second-hand Mac without hesitating - obviously if you're buying on eBay read the description carefully, and the user's feedback. But it's entirely true that Macs last virtually forever.

got a referb mac pro (was in proper box) 2.66mhz

I wanted a new one with upgrades but costs were getting out of hand so chose referb instead, got lucky as it came with two 1mb chips plus the upgrade I really wanted a x1900 xt graphics card! Already had two 512mb chips so now 3mb, odd amount but who cares!

    Shame I never got a 30inch screen

    so I would definitely recommend!
