Mac SE (purchased in 1987 or '88) - - 2... count 'em TWO 800k floppy drives... and the entire OS fit on one of them !!!

    Mac LC - - a hard drive! 40 whole MB's ... soooo cool!

    Mac LC (II or III ... i don't remember) - - but that 25MHz 030 was so much faster than the 16MHz 020 !

iMac G3-266 (blueberry?) - - no Floppy drive ??? ... but my first way cool CD drive!

iBook SE (still running ... no battery, but it's an iTunes "server" plugged into the stereo, running 10.4.8)

iMac G5 20" - - lemon, but AppleCare was certainly worth the price of admission

pBook G4 (still in use... 1.5 GHz)

iMac C2D 20" (current "main" computer) - - Noticeably MUCH faster than the G5 was!

I'm pretty sure the LC II had a 16 MHz 68LC030, and the LC III had a 25 MHz 68LC040. I might be wrong on this, but I follow the old 68k mac game because there are some ancient games I like that aren't 32bit-clean and only work on 68k macs.

    LC 630 - something slow

    B&W G3 - 350 MHz

    Cube G4 - 400 MHz

    15" iMac G4 - 800 MHz

    12" PowerBook G4 - 1.25 GHz

    17" iMac G5 - 1.8 GHz

    17" MacBook Pro - 2 x 2.16 GHz

    Long, long ago: Apple IIc

    1991ish: LC [1993ish: 040 upgrade card...wheeow!]

    1996: PowerCenter 150 [1999: G3 upgrade card...wheeow!]

    2002: iBook 12" 600 MHz

Wow. Hadn't really occurred to me that I've had all of four boxes in 15 years of Mac computing - and I expect the MBP to last me for a good long while yet.

    ...................................

I commend you sir, on your evolution. I see though that you were wise in getting what looks like mostly 2nd hand Macs each time you changed. It's an exploratory phase we all go through. Until we realise, it's the OS that matters most.

LOL. Poverty + No Credit Cards, to clarify... Poverty + Credit Cards = Stuff but with More Poverty.

*sigh* Live and Learn, it's alright.............. I never thought I'd be the kinda guy that would blow out my credit cards. But it did happen a few years back. But I *was* getting more *action* so, meh... whatevs 8) [no I was not spending my credit cards on hookers]. The Macs did impress some ladies [and guys ] though, I have to say.

With teenagers nowadays though, most of them are used to all having a PC in the bedroom. People in my age group however(mid to late 20s, early-mid 30s), a PC in the bedroom is a bit of a too-much-geek-factor turn off*. The aesthetics of a Mac in a bedroom, on the other hand, certainly do not go unnoticed ... Well, last time I checked...

*Admittedly all depends on your circle of friends/ your dates/ partner/ etc/ etc.

mid 1993 25MHz PowerBook 145b. This died in multiple ways 3 years later, but I kept it. A couple of years later I shot its screen with an air pistol - very pretty psychedelic effects (on the screen ) ensued.

early 1996 33 MHz PowerBook 190 (the greyscale screen version - a massive jump from 1 bit display in the PowerBook 145b to 4 bit on the 190)

    late 1998 300 MHz PowerMac G3

    late 2001 500 MHz Titanium PowerBook G4

    mid 2006 1.83 GHz MacBook

late 2007 2+ GHz 15.4" MacBook Pro with Santa Rosa and Penryn.
