Keychain query

I just got a new iMac and after using it a few days I noticed I had to enter passwords for things I had clicked "remember password". I just opened Keychain Access and found there were no passwords. Does anyone have any ideas of why this happens and how to correct it?

    In Safari, have you used the "reset Safari…" option at all? It clears all keychain passwords.
