I'm a little confused here and I hope someone here can help clarify this. I'm wondering if I can shoot DV on a PAL camcorder, and then output a finished project from FCP3 as NTSC, and vice versa. If I burn to DVD, is this even relevent?

i didn't try myself but from my own experience with FCP, you can shoot in Pal and output in NTSC.

    You have a few options:

    1. working in PAL then export the final movie in NTSC (prefered i think)

    2. converting all the footage from PAL to NTSC then edit in NTSC

    3. editing in a NTSC sequence with PAL footage (but no realtime then) <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

For DVD, it is prefered to use the native format (pal or ntsc) for the country you wanna do the dvd. I guess 2 masters are a good idea...

Just a reminder, PAL is higher quality then NTSC... keep working in PAL then just convert ur master

I am not sure about option 1. PAL is 25fps and NTSC is 29.97 (30) fps. You can capture in PAL but i doubt that you can output the same PAL footage to NTSC. You can try but I suspect that it will be all wonky. I

I meant "Export to..." option... not just output it... You'll have to convert it with this "export" option.
