What is Framistan?
hi,
well, it has been discussed over a year ago, that apple was working on a PC? killer app. The name 'Framistan' popped up.
The name Framistan has also made it to a list somewhere on an Apple webpage, stating that 'Framistan' was cleared for export. This was somewhere at the end of last year.
So what is it?
can NE 1 elaborate on this?
thanks!
cheers,

You mean it's not a country in the Middle East?
I don't know if that clarifies it any, but maybe it's a start.

And, from an article on britannica.com:
[quote]In market research--whether it's for cars, beverages, or new packaging--consumer responses must be based on a clear understanding of the items' qualities and potential benefits and downside. For instance, they may be asked to compare the taste of Sprite with the taste of 7-Up. They're never asked to compare a twist-off cap with a framistan because no one knows the relative attributes of a framistan in order to make an informed comparison.

Basically, these confirm what I suspected: "Framistan" is geek-speak for a random, unidentified Thing.
There are plenty more links where I found these: Just Google "framistan" (as opposed to dindling or discombobulating it) and you'll have hours of reading material.
In the context of the Apple export list - it appeared in the software section of the last revision before iPhoto was released, and disappeared from the first revision after it was released.
Not really a huge mystery.
