External Hard Drive - Always On?

I have a LaCiE 250GB external harddrive that I use to just back up my files. Recently, I have gotten really into vide, and the file storage on my iMac (even though I had 120GB free) was used up very quickly. I want to start storing everything on my harddrive so I don't have to worry about my iMacs harddrive getting crammed up.



Is it all right to leave an external hard drive always plugged in?

    Not a problem, but make sure to adjust the necessary settings to have it spin down after a period of inactivity. Also, if your computer is on an uninterruptible battery backup make sure that the hard drive is too.

    Cool. It does have an automatic shut-down and I should get a battery backup. Thank you!
